Re-live history of the “booming cypress industry” in this charming, quiet city on the historic "Old Spanish Trail". Home to the world’s largest cypress mill, closing in 1929 (visit Patterson’s Wedell Williams Aviation/Cypress Sawmill State Museum for more history). Location of “Atchafalaya at Idlewild” golf course and famous Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival. Private wharf situated on the Lower Atchafalaya River with covered patio, kayaks, ping pong table, and assorted bicycles. The space Access to the River directly behind the building with seating, newly landscaped and decking over the water. Newly renovated city park located next door with kayak launch, playground equipment, fishing dock (Captain Caviar's Swamp Tour nearby). Our place is located on the route for the annual Tour du Teche canoe race and is also the final check point for the Lower Atchafalaya Sprint Race (kayaking). Nearby (Bayou Vista) has a skate park, kids spray park, putt putt golf, tennis courts and baseball parks. Indoor Pickle Ball court is also nearby. Local grocery store one mile away (7:00am - 7:00pm) Super Walmart three miles away. One mile from authentic Cajun Seafood restaurant, Cajun Meat Market. Close to fine dinning at Atchafalaya at Idlewild Restaurant. Our home is situated an estimated hour car ride from New Orleans/jazz heritage, Lafayette/Cajun country and Baton Rouge. Other things to note Absolutely no pets. Absolutely no smoking. Not available for any parties/event rentals. Any special occasion/wedding weekend stays (where a photographer, family/friends gather) requires a $100.00 additional fee upon arrival. Renter is responsible for it's guest and any damage to the property by their guests. EARLY and LATE check-in/out fee of $50 each and we request a 24-hour notice, subject to availability
