Historic & Air-Conditioned Oak Bluffs Cottage
Description
Please note: Our cottage is for adults seeking quiet relaxation in the charm of an historic home. Because of the age of the house, it's not suitable for young children. Our cottage in the East Chop neighborhood of Oak Bluffs. It’s a short walk to the beach and Circuit Avenue, and a 15-minute walk to the ferries. The space Our cottage's porch looks over public Wesley Park, and the house is full of personally curated artwork. First Floor: A well-stocked kitchen, dining room, family room with streaming services, a formal sitting room with a board game area (that can also serve as an office space), a full bath, and laundry. The wraparound porch has ample seating, hammocks, and an outdoor dining area. A small rear side deck hosts the grill space and outdoor shower. Second floor: Three bedrooms and a second full bath. All bedrooms are private (i.e. no “pass-through” rooms). There are two narrow staircases with handrails to access the second floor. The primary bedroom has a private deck for two overlooking Wesley Park. The primary and middle room access the bathroom via a hallway. The rear queen room does not have direct access to the second floor bathroom, so guests in that room can use the rear stairs to use the first floor bathroom, or must walk through the middle bedroom. Guest access The cottage is entirely available for our guests (excluding owners' locked storage closets), as is the parking area to the right side of the house, and the side deck and yard to the left. The driveway is an easement across Wesley Park, which is all of the public land in front of the house from the road up to the front porch (i.e. we don’t own the land in front). Neighbors and other visitors have the right to walk through the woods and across the front public park, though this is rare based on our corner location. Other things to note We welcome reservations from guests with positive (5-star) reviews. Users without reviews, or with negative reviews, will be declined. Our calendar is limited because we use the house for several weeks ourselves, and have regular returning renters for weekly stays in the high season, July–August. We typically do not rent in May or October, and have limited availability in June and September. Water service is disconnected November through April because the cottage is seasonal (i.e. not insulated or winterized). Please treat our home like you are friends and family. Damages and/or violations of our rules are taken seriously. Because of the historic nature of the cottage, it is not suitable for young children. We do not accept pets. Please do not ask to bring your pets, even little nice ones. Though East Chop is typically a quiet and respectful area, our proximity to other cottages and downtown Oak Bluffs comes with the understanding that our guests will hear neighborhood and boat/harbor noise, particularly in the high season July–August.
