Private and unshared: The first floor is unoccupied, unattached and reserved for caretaking during periods between rentals. Rest assured, your stay will be private, peaceful, and unshared. The entire second floor, your private suite, has a separate entrance while the grounds are available for you to explore and enjoy. To ensure your stay is as relaxing as possible, we will reach out to you once by message (or text) within the first 24 hours of your arrival and halfway mark to check if there's anything else we can assist you with. Afterward, we are a message away when needed, and will make sure to respond in prompt manner. In case of any urgent matters that cannot be resolved through messaging, we have a caretaker available in the neighborhood who can be contacted. We are committed to providing the support you need for a worry-free stay. Puna area : while upper Puna consists of Volcanoes NP, lower Puna is known for its coastal jungle area dotted with farms and those seeking a simple, ‘off-grid’ lifestyle. As one travels past Pahoa , there is space and decompression; and a raw, wild flow that seems to turn back time to an earlier ‘old roots’ Hawai’i kine way. While our neighborhood, Leilani Estates, is removed from the hustle and bustle of Hilo, we love that the neighborhood is conveniently situated between lively Pahoa Town, and nearby attractions such as Kehena and Pohoiki beaches, geothermal hot ponds, eco spas and venues off scenic 'Red Road'. Fun day trips can also be made to either Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park or Hilo, which are less than 45 minutes away. Therefore, you will have easy access to both necessities and adventure! The weather here is amazing for those who want to get a break from the heat of black lava beachside and retreat in the ‘goldilocks’ zone of warm days and cool evenings; enjoy the sun and blue skies interchanging with the serenity that comes with random rain showers. The neighborhood itself is characterized by spacious parcels that are a minimum of one acre. Many properties have preserved the native forest in lush surroundings that make enjoyable sightseeing on leisurely walks, runs or cruising through the neighborhood. For fitness enthusiasts, there is a large fitness park with basketball courts and a playground. At various times, markets and hula lessons are hosted in the pavilion providing a glimpse of local culture and community activities. At the lower section of the neighborhood, there is access to Fissure 8 hike, which is the 2018 lava flow vent which took out the lower section of the neighborhood. One can take a guided tour which allows you to explore and appreciate the unique natural wonders of the area. Our property provides a secure environment with gated access and ample parking space. While the shortest route to the property is on a private, low traffic gravel road... there is an opposite access that runs along paved roads for those sensitive to uneven gravel terrain. Renting a car is highly recommended to enjoy the hot spots Puna (and the Big Island) has to offer. If you're an adventurous traveler planning to hit off-the-beaten path areas, look into renting a four wheel drive vehicle. LYFT and Uber also service the area. Your visit is valued by many Native Hawaiians and kama'aina of these islands. To contribute as community, we encourage you to support local-owned businesses, eateries, and rentals. Additionally, consider purchasing fresh produce and goods from farm stands and farmers markets to support our local farmers. Your embrace of the aloha spirit through these actions is greatly appreciated. Mahalo!
