We hope you enjoy time on the large private lanai (balcony) as much as we do. It's the best place to enjoy your morning coffee, to sit with your laptop (the wifi is great), to dine al fresco, and to sip sunset cocktails! Gourmet kitchen designed for use by two chefs with two sinks and two cooktops. Granite countertops, filtered water, ice maker, French-door stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, dishes, pots and pans, even casserole dishes and cake pans, and herbs and spices. Formal dining room with glass-top table and Hawaiiana bamboo style. Lovely ocean views from here too. There's also a breakfast bar for casual dining. Huge living room with comfy couch, antique leather armchair, large flat screen Roku TV, cathedral ceiling, and wall of windows overlooking the ocean. Also two work desks with USB ports. First bedroom has a king size bed, two closets, traditional Hawaiian bamboo furnishings, and custom original art. The attached private bathroom was fully remodeled and boasts beautiful ceramic tile and an enormous walk-in glass-door shower with built in bench. Second bedroom has a queen size bed, more charming Hawaiian decor, and a small work station with desk, lamp, office chair and USB powerstrip. The attached private bath includes a combo tub/shower. Separate laundry room with full size washer and dryer for your convenience. Ceiling fans in most every room, including the bathrooms. Air conditioner units are in each bedroom also, and ready to be hooked up if you desire. You will have the entire house - living room, dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms each with private full bath, washer and dryer, and the lanai (balcony). Daily housekeeping is not included, but the on-site host may come up to the main house to empty the trash or use the stove. Your on-site host, Viktoriia, lives in the separate studio apartment ("ohana") under the house. She will be available on-site to assist you during your stay. The ocean is less than a mile away as the crow flies, so depending on the surf conditions you may hear and/or see the crashing waves. Magic Sands (White Sands) beach is just 5 minutes (1.8 miles) away. A wonderful black sand snorkeling beach called Kahalu'u is only 6 minutes (2.5 miles) away. We often see sea turtles here. The shops and restaurants of downtown Kona are 10 minutes (4 miles) away. Multiple grocery stores are available to the north or south within a 10 minute drive, and there's a small convenience store just a block away. We're only a 20 minute (11 mile) drive from the airport. (Tip: if you have a Costco membership, stop there on your way to the house from the airport. You'll be driving right by!) Just three blocks to the wonderful Walua Trail, popular for walking, running and biking. Numerous coffee plantations are just up-mountain a bit. We're happy to give you our recommendations. If you prefer a swimming pool instead of the ocean, the community pool in Kona is free and just a short drive away. It offers a lap pool and a keiki (kiddie) wading pool. Because our home is set in a real Hawaiian neighborhood, not a sterile resort setting, you may get to hear coqui frogs, roosters and chickens, dogs, children, and perhaps even a goat. The house is conveniently located right near the main highway, which results in some traffic noise, especially on weekday mornings. Room air conditioners, ceiling fans and floor fans are provided for white noise. You will want to rent a car for getting around the island. The house has one off-street parking spot (in the driveway) for your convenience. Snorkel gear, beach chairs, a beach umbrella, beach towels and a small cooler are all available for your use at no extra charge. Bed linens, blankets and bath towels provided. Hair dryer and first aid kit also provided. We provide a starter set of dish soap, laundry soap, bath soap, shampoo, paper towels, etc. If more is needed it can be purchased at many local stores.
