Bamboo-Hawaiian Hut with Oceanview!
Bamboo-Hawaiian Hut with Oceanview!
Description
Kau on the Big Island. We live on 20 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote black - green sand beach. We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). At the end of our road is a beautiful black and green sand beach, a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there. WE RECOMMEND a 4WD to get to our place, or a high clearance SUV, not a convertible or sedan which is low to the ground! You must have clearance and go slow.... the road is rocky and bumpy. This is a cabin The space Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. The lovely red Lehua flowers bloom In May and October. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. GLAMPING! Shared bathroom (see photos) about a 80 feet away. Outdoor kitchenette includes a propane single burner, ice chest and mini fridge. NO OVEN. We have an outdoor fire pit, if you like campfires! We have a propane grill. It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. This is a hosted rental; owner lives on property. This is a 12 step Christian recovery camp when the cabins are not being rented, you might see a scripture on the wall so if that’s going to offend, you don’t make a reservation The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. Road to the Sea is a gravel road. If you want to drive to the remote green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for the ice chest if you have perishables. BRING YOUR OWN DRINKING WATER. There is plenty of coffee and tea in the kitchenette. Boil hot water in the kettle, put cone filter with a paper filter and ground coffee inside and on top of thermos. Drip. It's delicious! Or bring your own Kcups. This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. So we have battery lights for back up and you can charge your phone. No wifi. I use AT&T which has 2 bars. Verizon and TMobile have signals also. The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! The land is flattened lava rock with Ohia Trees. We are one hour south of Kona, Makai of Oceanview (Oceanside). You can see the South point of the island from Road to the Sea and the Volcano is just 50 miles away. We are a 1.5–2 hours drive from the Kona airport, depending on the traffic and time of day… We are at the south end of the island in Ocean view. The ZIP Code is for a Captain Cook but that’s only for our mail. Guest access Shared bathroom (see photos) about a 80 feet away. Outdoor Kitchen includes a single propane burner, ice chest. Mini fridge. No oven. We have a propane BBQ grill. No Wifi We have an outdoor fire pit, if you like campfires! Other things to note Hot water shower is propane. Just turn on the faucet and that turns on the hot shower. Please don't adjust the settings on the propane heater. Bring ice for the ice chest if you have perishables. Bring drinking water. There is plenty of coffee and tea in the kitchen. Boil hot water in the kettle, put cone filter with a paper filter ground coffee inside and on top of thermos. Drip. It's delicious!
