Description

Private family apartment built for relaxing comfort and views of nature 2 miles from Mount Tammany, Mount Minsi, and the Appalachian Trail Walk to a private brookside trail and a winery Private deck Includes: Bread, eggs, pancake mix, coffee, tea, milk, bananas, s'mores kit, and more AWARDS: Top 1% of all Airbnb & #1 "Most Hospitable NJ Host" in 2021 Little or no host interaction – your choice Host lives on-site and can provide customized recommendations for food and things to do The space We leave time between bookings to thoroughly sanitize and ensure your comfort. Your private guest suite was custom rebuilt in 2017 for relaxation and features an amazing view of our pond, garden, and woods. While at home, stroll the paver walkway to the pondside patio. At night, from your windows, you may spot skunks, raccoons, opossums, and other furry friends cleaning up seeds dropped by the birds. Make s'mores by the pond, or use the provided flashlights to find frogs and tadpoles. Relax on your private deck or by the pond, soothed by the sounds of the wind chime and waterfalls. Depending on the season, you may see goldfinches, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, dragonflies, and butterflies flying around the pond and feeders. A propane barbecue is available and fully stocked for your use. Nearby Attractions: The Delaware Water Gap, Appalachian Trail, and the Stroudsburgs/Poconos are just 2 to 10 minutes away. Within a 1-mile walk: A little-known NJ State Park hiking trail along a brook, and Brook Hollow Winery. Lakota Wolf Preserve – offering tours (reservations book weeks or even months in advance, so call ASAP) – 10 minutes. Guided horseback rides along the Paulins Kill River Trail (closed only when icy) – 30 minutes. Stroudsburg – shopping, antiques, candy stores, and movies – 10 minutes. Mount Airy Casino, Camelback Ski & Water Park, Tannersville Outlet Shopping, Bushkill Falls, Shawnee Mountain, and zip lines – 20 to 30 minutes. Historic Jim Thorpe – mountain bike rentals, scenic train rides, whitewater rafting, charming town strolls, and great dining – 40 minutes. Experience Nature: Breathe in the fresh country mountain air and enjoy the symphony of singing birds. Be on the lookout for deer, pheasants, foxes, skunks, turkeys, and the occasional bear in the hayfield—with the Delaware Water Gap as your backdrop. Local Charm: We are also near Blairstown, NJ—home to Blair Academy, pubs, diners, a brewery, and a small airport with a café. Kids and adults alike enjoy watching gliders and planes take off and land while dining at The Airport Café. The airport sits along the Paulins Kill Trail, which welcomes walkers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers. The trail follows the Paulins Kill River, a habitat for bald eagles, blue herons, swans, and more. Guest access You have your own large parking area with a basketball hoop at the foot of your deck. The pond area and gardens are yours to enjoy! Other things to note We have a dog named Bart who lives in the front yard when we have guests—so you may not even see him. The only time you might hear him is when a package is delivered or during Wednesday trash pickup. For the most part, he’s a quiet little guy. We adopted Bart in April 2019 from Georgia. He’s a low-to-the-ground Basset Hound and Australian Cattle Dog mix. As a rescue, Bart may have had some difficult experiences in his past, so we do not offer doggie visits. We also share our home and yard with four cats. While they do not have access to the guest apartment, they do occasionally roam the yard. If you have cat allergies, please keep this in mind.
