A brief stroll down the hill you'll discover a full-sized grocery store, bike trails, dining, a pharmacy, and city parks. It would be hard to find a better location to stay for events at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. The north and south entrances are only five minutes away. Active guests will enjoy Sleepy Hollow Sports Park, Copper Creek Lake and Golf Club, all within 10 minutes. Des Moines tourists can reach the East Village shopping district, Court Avenue and the downtown farmer's market, Iowa Cubs stadium, Wells Fargo Arena, Drake University, and Lauridsen Skatepark (largest in the nation), plus Altoona mainstays such as Adventureland and Adventure Bay, the Bass Pro Shop, Outlets of DSM, all in 15 min or less. The airport and Blank Park Zoo are twenty minutes away. Here you will never feel like you're in the big city, yet our home is perfectly situated to access Des Moines' main attractions in short order: In 3-5 minutes you can be on main entry points to the city: >E University or Dean Ave take you immediately to the fairgrounds and a bit further, the State Capitol complex and the East Village >Scott Ave is a zippy backroad to major softball and soccer complexes, and also connects to E M.L.K. Jr Pkwy for the I-Cubs, Court Avenue, downtown, and the riverwalk >US-65 is a fast bypass to get to Adventureland and Bass Pro Shop up north, or the airport and Easter Lake down south If you're looking for good bike paths, the Gay Lea Wilson Trail is a wonderful alternative to explore the Northeast metro area. We are just blocks away from the intersection of two spokes. One spoke heads out to Altoona, and another takes you along the Fourmile Creek greenbelt, all the way to the north side and the Chichaqua Valley Trail.
