Hawaii volcano national park re-opened after the national park had been closed for 135 days as volcanic activity caused explosive eruptions, earthquakes and the collapse of the famed Halemaumau crater. Ash clouds shot skyward from the summit crater and blanketed the region in volcanic debris.Sep 22, 2018. Awesome changes occurred during this volcanic eruption. Historic changes to see. Lava fields newly covered in Pahoa areas. Wednesday nights has a fun exsperience in kalapana. Uncle Robert's, music and food. Something you don't want to miss. Panaewa zoo is a beautiful rainforest zoo. Mauna loa mac-nut farm and factory. (Ice cream in back of store) If you can visit and support our small businesses. There are many awesome shops and food establishments all over. One of my personal favorite bakeries is at the south end of the island: Punaluu Bakery. Stop and see the Punaluu black sand beach when your down at that end of the Island. There are lots more info and recommendations in the house manual, take time and check it out after you arrive. Many extras provided. Guest book with information about rental and Island, with popular places, attractions and host recommendations. Phone call and or texting available for questions regarding any of our reccomidations for Island spots. We're here to help make your big island stay the best! Quiet reserved area, off a side road which provides privacy. Hawaii Island also known as Big Island, is the youngest and largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago. Home to all four of the world’s climate zones, Hawaii Island’s vast, wild acreage is some of the most diverse terrain on earth. Travel beyond the confines of your vacation rental and you’ll discover tropical jungle, black sand beaches, the spectacular, snow-capped peak of Mauna Kea and one of the world’s most active volcanoes. If you’re looking for an escape that has it all—from world-class coffee farms and picturesque ranchlands to Hawaiian archeological sites and crystalline coral reefs—Hawaii Island is your ultimate destination, the island of Hawaii knows how to put on a show. Whether it’s snowing on Mauna Kea or lava is spewing at Kilauea, the island continues to stun visitors with its natural rugged splendor. Although every Hawaiian Island has a depth of historical sites and stories to their name, the island of Hawaii has some of the biggest. A journey to the birthplace of King Kamehameha the Great, first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii, will take you past the Puukohola Heiau in South Kohala, the last major heiau (temple) built in Hawaii. Even going out to surf will have you connecting with the island’s past.
