The Happiness House-French Qtrs & JazzFest ~1 mile
Well situated close to the French Quarter, Jazz Fest/Fair Grounds, Frenchmen Street, Esplanade Ave, and the beautiful City Park. This is the heart of New Orleans' best attractions, while anchored in a historic Creole neighborhood that has an authentic atmosphere of southern warmth amidst a colorful sampling of New Orleans' architecture. Newly renovated, the house is in the city's historic landmark district. Great place for couples, groups, business travelers, and families with kids. The elevation of the house combined with the open concept floor plan and high ceilings give it an extremely light-filled spaciousness. In typical New Orleans style, The Happiness House is made for entertaining and spending quality time with family and friends. There are five unique gathering spaces to relax and enjoy each others company in these spacious 2500 sq feet - the living room, the kitchen, the dining room, and the front porch. On the other hand, the large master bedroom (800 sq ft) is a separate wing of the house also with its own living room area and flat screen TV, so getting some quiet time in a more private setting is always an option. The door adjoining the main house to the catwalk leading to the master bedroom can be locked from the inside of the main house so that any guests using an air mattress in the living room can effectively close off the space as one over-sized bedroom - same goes for the master bedroom. In short, The Happiness House offers a lot of flexibility all in a beautiful setting that is designed for total comfort and togetherness with plenty of room for everyone to find their very own happy place. You will have access to the Wi-Fi, cable, smart TV (with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, the works on both flat screens TVs), full kitchen with new appliances, and the washer/dryer unit. I will be available by phone and text message throughout the day. I'm happy to answer questions and address any needs that you may have! The 7th Ward is a historic Creole New Orleans' neighborhood. Many of the rich traditions of New Orleans' culture were born in the 7th Ward. Our home was owned by one of the most prominent Creole families in the city making it part of a long history of family and community. This part of the 7th Ward is known as Esplanade Ridge because of its proximity to Esplanade Ave and its ridge elevation. It is truly an urban neighborhood - a stone's throw to all the happenings but still with a quiet though friendly local community feel. Walk 10 blocks or take a 10-minute $8 Uber (approx.) to get to the French Quarter or Frenchmen St. Or, if it is Jazz Fest time, walk, bike, Uber/taxi 12 blocks in the opposite direction to get to the Fair Grounds. Walk three blocks to the picturesque Esplanade Ave. and take the bus or Uber to City Park where you can check out the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Sculpture Garden, the Botanical Garden, and so much more! The Happiness House is a typical raised New Orleans house with the main house on the 2nd floor which requires stairs. All guests should be comfortable climbing approximately nine stairs to enter the house. In addition to the king-sized bed in the master bedroom suite, there is a queen-sized bed in the 2nd bedroom, a queen-sized bed in the 3rd bedroom, an over-sized twin daybed in the living room, AND a separate wide sofa both very comfortable for sleeping in the living room. The living room can be completely closed off from the master bedroom suite wing providing total privacy to any guests in the living room area.
