The reef area in front of the resort is home to Hawaiian Sea Turtles; endemic to Hawai’i, these ancient air-breathing reptiles go back 150 million years, and weigh-in at 150 to 400 pounds each, amazing! Another marvelous nature experience includes the winter return of Humpback Whales to our protected waters; they travel 3,500 miles to birth their big babies (roughly,12 feet long, weighing 2,000 pounds), then nurse and nurture them until it’s time to head back to Alaska in April.
