Description

“A river seems a magic thing. A magic, moving, living part of the very earth itself.” ― Laura Gilpin There is nothing quite like a stay at Goldsmith's River Front Inn. The Rattlesnake Apt. has a private entry and back deck, and is furnished with a king-sized bed and a full-sized bed, sleeping three guests. It has a large sitting room/bedroom, private bathroom, washer/dryer, large fully-stocked kitchen, Roku TV, and high-speed Internet. Check our profile to see the other 5 units in our house! The space Just blocks from downtown and the University, with an unmatched riverfront location! Easy access to hiking and biking trails! Goldsmith’s Inn is a historic, three-story, brick home that was built in 1911 as the University of Montana president’s house. The house has served many University purposes over the years; it was once a fraternity, a lab, and an office space, among other uses. In 1988, the building was slated for demolition to expand university parking. Amidst community outcry over the planned destruction of the historic and beautiful home, the Inn was saved by the Goldsmiths. In order to preserve the home, the Goldsmiths undertook an audacious plan to move the 4000 square foot house from the southern edge of campus to the northern banks of the Clark Fork River. The home was then fully renovated to create six classic and comfortable rooms, each with private, hand-tiled bathrooms and other modern amenities. For over twenty years, the Goldsmiths have been welcoming guests into the beautiful home to experience the wonder of Montana and a piece of Missoula history. Please note, we are now a vacation rental property (not a traditional bed and breakfast), meaning self check-in-and-out, and no daily breakfast. These precautions help our guests minimize contact with each other, with us, and with our staff. Thank you! Guest access Free on-site parking, a private entrance, access to nearby riverfront walking/biking trails, and minutes from downtown make this spot a hidden gem in Missoula! This apartment includes access to a shared patio, located in the back of the next-door bike shop, overlooking the river. Please be respectful of the shared space! Other things to note This listing is a private apartment in a *former* Bed and Breakfast. It includes access to private laundry, kitchen, and deck, as well as access to a river-facing front porch and next-door patio. You will see signs for Goldsmith's Bed and Breakfast - thats us! Please park on the west side of the lot in front of the house, not in front of the bike shop. We are located next door to Big Sky Bikes. After parking, you will walk toward the fence/shed to the right side of the property as you face it. This is your private walkway to your own entrance! The unit should be marked Room #2, the Rattlesnake Apartment. The apartment is also accessible via the main entrance to the home. To access this, please travel from the parking lot toward the river, turn right to head up the stairs to the front porch, and enter through the main door (painted black). Once you have entered, go down the hall and just past the staircase is your second entrance, which leads into the kitchen of your unit. Registration Details 2024-MSS-STR-00080
