Welcome to Fathom, a cozy and artistic eco-friendly home in the walking village of Woods Hole. This 100-year-old house is recently renovated, featuring brand new appliances and eco-toilets. It’s an easy stroll to nearby beaches, restaurants, and the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. Located on a dead-end street in a quiet neighborhood, Fathom includes a lovely private garden and patio. On summer nights, with windows open, you can hear bell buoys and passing boats. Parking for 2 cars. Woods, gardens, birds and other wildlife surround this home. We are committed to protecting Cape Cod's fragile ecosystem. Our toilets are eco-friendly (composting) toilets. Have no fear, if you’ve never encountered one before: there are no odors, and they’re cute. These are urine- diverting toilets, so everyone must sit to pee. We use non-toxic detergents and soaps to help the planet and protect the environment. A kitchen waste compost system is ready for your use. We follow the AirBnb 5-step cleaning protocol. Solar installation is scheduled for late spring. Guests have the entire house and a lovely private patio and side yard. There is space for kids to play. Dedicated parking area for 2 cars. We live near and are often available for answering questions, (but you will have plenty of privacy). Trees and gardens divide the property. A quiet dead end in the heart of historic Woods Hole village. Just a few minutes walk to Water Street with shops and restaurants, as well as the Martha's Vineyard ferry terminal. Easy walk also to world-class science institutions (MBL, WHOI and NOAA); many activities, exhibits and lectures* (*still some offerings adapted to pandemic). Short walk to beautiful public beach. One can walk to the ocean in minutes, in 3 directions. This charming science/fishing village is very walkable. Easy walk ( minutes) from Water Street, the commercial main street of the village, with public library, historical museum, aquarium, restaurants, shops, ferry boat & more. Woods Hole Market to get supplies, perhaps your favorite cuts of meat for the grill. Falmouth village is only a 10 minute drive away with many other offerings. Or you can bike to Falmouth on the Shining Sea Bike Path, or ride a "trolley" shuttle. Fathom abuts a wild area with many bird species and other wildlife. We've had a ruby crowned kinglet pair nesting on site. You may also hear woodcocks and owls. Excellent science resources near by for all ages, from nature reserves to science institutions such as Marine Biological Laboratory and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.
