Bayou living, outdoor adv. or romantic getaway in a recently renovated 3 bed/2 bath local landmark with deep water access to secluded Bayou Lacombe, Big Branch Marsh N.W.R., and beyond. Bring a boat, or locally rent a kayak, canoe, or paddle board. Public boat launch is a 8 min drive. We are located 10 mins from I-12, and 55 from New Orleans. Walking distance to St Tammany Trace a 31 mile asphalt path perfect for biking, walking and jogging; and less than a mile from Big Branch NWR. Enjoy big bay windows overlooking the water in the living room and master bedroom, a perfect spot to sit and read. Or enjoy your beverage of choice on rockers sitting on the front porch while listening to a bubbling fountain. Perch fishing is good right off of the yard, and a nice way to entertain the kids so you can go back to hitting the rocking chairs some more. The backyard has two large slabs (only in Louisiana) great for crab or crawfish boils with a picnic table, concrete fire pit and Webber grill provided. Fountainebleau State park has hiking and a beach 10 miles by car. Boy scout road trail has hiking only 1.4 miles away in Big Branch NWR. Other nearby hikes include Northlake Nature Center approx 10 miles. Rent or bring a bike and cruise the St Tammany Trace. The trace is 31 miles of paved trail that used to be a railroad track. You can also kayak the bayou right from our yard. Paddle right around the corner and you’ll reach the main bayou, a perfect place to see birds, alligators, and fish. The house is on well water which has been tested and is safe to drink. If a tub is filled, however, you may notice a slight discoloration and slight sulfur smell. It doesn't seem to affect taste. We will have a small amount of bottled water available for making coffee and drinking. Self check in and out with a keypad. We live near by and will be available to help, answer any questions, or give recommendations about the house and area. Lacombe is a quiet community with beautiful natural resources. We are right around the corner from the Lacombe Bayou, and a 30 min boat ride from Lake Pontchartrain. The house is a short drive from Big Branch Marsh's Boy Scout Road hiking area, Fontainebleau State Park, the Northlake Nature Center and walking distance to the St Tammany Trace. Crabs and redfish can be caught closer to the lake, and you can fish for perch right off our yard. If you're looking for a quiet getaway and Louisiana living, this is the place for you! Parking is available for three vehicles, and the neighborhood is safe for walking or biking. A short walk or ride from the St Tammany Trace and short drive to hiking areas. The house has it’s own water treatment system, please do not flush anything besides waste and toilet paper. Be aware, there is no disposal on the sink. Please keep the strainer in place when washing dishes. Please bag any trash and take it downstairs to the outside can.
