The snow is here! The Berkshire Gorge House is 15 minutes from Jiminy Peak Ski Area, 30 minutes to Bosquet’s Ski area in Pittsfield, 15 minutes from Williamstown and thirty minutes from Tanglewood. Built in 1910 and remodeled in 2011: new kitchen, gas range, gas furnace, on-demand hot water, 3 bathrooms with two tub/showers, one clawfoot soaker, Internet & Dish TV on 15 acres of forestland with a stunning waterfall view. A great, cozy rustic retreat and get away. The Berkshire Gorge House sits beside the Green River above a set of river cascades, on the western slopes of Mt. Greylock. New England’s finest craftsmen with classic pine paneling and flagstone floors built this 5-bedroom, three-story house, in 1910. The house boasts a new kitchen with gas range, new washer/dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher, on-demand hot water, three bathrooms with one tub/shower. There is Internet connection and Dish TV, dehumidifier and one working fireplace. The Berkshire Gorge House is situated on 15 acres of private forestland, great for ski weekends, spring flowers, summer vacations, fall foliage and fishing trips. The house is a fifteen-minute drive to Jiminy Peak Ski Area, only 15 minutes to Williamstown, home of Williams College and a world-class summer theatre festival. Tanglewood is a thirty-minute drive as is the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams. The property borders on the Mt. Greylock Reservation and the nearby road will take you to the top of the mountain, now designated by author J.K. Rowling as the North American home of Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Berkshire Gorge House sits on the original Clarence Smith Estate, whose main house has been converted into the Bondhu. The house, in the town of New Ashford, is approximately a three-hour drive from both Boston and New York City--convenient to Williams College, Fine Restaurants, Golf Courses, Jiminy Peak Ski Resort and more. Guests have full access to all rooms in the house, a flagstone patio, garden area and 15 acres of forest. The house was dubbed the Gorge House as it sits above a 150 foot gorge and a set of waterfalls and swimming holes. We are available. New Ashford is a small town of 200 residents. The Gorge House sits beside the Bondhu Restaurant and across Route #7 from a colonial era cemetery. You will need a car. There is a parking area for two cars and more parking is available across Route #7. The Gorge House is great for kids since there are 14 acres of forested land and the Green River running through the property for a cool dip beneath the waterfall.
