Guest suite in Pahoa
Description
Halekamahina (House of the Moon) is perched high on an ancient lava cone called Kaholua o Kahawali with an amazing ocean, lava, and jungle view. Experience the spectacular sunrises and mesmerizing moonrises overlooking older craters and the recent 2018 lava flow, all surrounded by the soft Hawaiian jungle breeze! A great place to begin your Big Island adventure. Located near amazing jungle beaches, hot ponds and nature at its finest. The space The studio is located on the bottom floor of a fully off-the-grid two-story typical Hawaiian home sitting on 10 secluded acres of gorgeous tropical land. We collect the sun and the rain and it powers our home and our lives. We strive to keep the suite quieter, cleaner, and well stocked for your adventures on the island. The room is sealed for sound and the elements, and perched high on a crater so the jungle's small nuisances such as mosquitos are minimized compared to area units. Please enjoy the luxurious private outdoor shower connected to the studio. Guest access Guests are welcome to enjoy the lower half of the residence including the large downstairs covered deck, private outdoor shower/bathroom, and entire adjacent (front) yard for themselves. Below the home is a 3 acre bamboo forest, with 12 varieties of bamboo. The bamboo forest was damaged by the 2018 lava flow. It is currently being restored to its original pristine natural beauty. Visitors are welcome to explore if they so choose. Guided property tours are available upon request. We have laundry machines upstairs, let us know if you need access. Other things to note Always good to mention, in case you are sensitive to these types of things: We are a house overlooking a tropical rainforest jungle and lava field. We have Tradewinds that keep the air clean and humidity lower, not like other jungle properties. Hawaii Island in general has insects, frogs, and beautiful birds some of them bite and make noise, but generally try to live their lives without interruption, just like we do. If you are sensitive to the sound of the Coqui frogs, earplugs are available. Many people actually like their chirping though. The property is 1/3 mile down a well maintained private dirt road, but safe for rental cars with low clearance to drive down.
