Papa'aloa Animal Lovers' Paradise #1
We call this place Animal Lover's Paradise because we have a lot of horses, dogs, cats and birds we care for and enjoy. This is the home of Papa'aloa Arabians, a horse lovers passion project in the works. The tropical breezes keep the area nice and cool and you just cannot beat the VIEWS! It is peaceful and beautiful up here, you will love it! The space On Papaaloa Rd, just above Papaaloa Ave, my 11 acre horse ranch property on a gentle slope above town has a 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean. My 11 horses are in pasture fronting the large airy home, which has large windows throughout for the light & the views. (Horseback riding is a possibility.) There are 4 friendly German Shepherds in the yard; cats & birds live upstairs. There is 1 large room available on the first floor. It is set up as a large studio, with an attached veranda (with great pasture & ocean views). There are kitchen appliances, hot plates, microwave, coffee maker et al. There are 2 queen beds, dining table & chairs, as well a TV that plays DVDs. It has its own bath and a twin bed on the attached side porch, which is screened in. An extra twin bed can be set up in the room if needed. The Base price for room double occupancy is $95 per night. I'm required by the state to charge 14.2% in TAT and GET taxes per night. Base nightly cost is therefore $109, based on 2 people. A larger group will pay $25 extra per person (plus taxes). Guests are welcome to dine al fresco on the lanai (veranda) where they can enjoy the awesome views of the ocean & the gentle breezes. Near sunset, there are sometimes fabulous rainbows in the eastern sky. Bring your cameras! I own TC Bey Cedar, the stallion who portrayed Al Hattal in "Hidalgo" (race favorite belonging to Omar Sharif's character). The movie is available to view on DVD. And perhaps you'd like a photo with a 'movie star'. As noted by other offers in the area, we are located about midway between Hilo & Honokaa or Waimea. Akaka Falls is above the cute tourist town of Honomu, and zipline adventures are offered there & elsewhere. Nearby Laupahoehoe Point is a picturesque park on the ocean. Papa'aloa Store has a nice menu of good food and a convenience store. There is a well-maintained public swimming pool quite near as well. Best to bring groceries with you on arrival, or you can pick up food and gas at the nearby Minit Stop. Guests are advised to get a rental vehicle, but if one chooses, there is an island bus system which utilizes the highway below my place. Folks have told me this house has a "million dollar view" and I won't argue, as I fell in love with that first & then the house. :-) One needn't be an animal lover, but my pets are a big draw if you are. Come experience paradise! Guest access Parking fronting the house, all amenities in the room. Entrance & exits on front & back porches. Other things to note Dogs are curious and friendly. If they surround you, just push them out of the way with your knee, saying firmly, "Move!" Please communicate with me when you are arriving or leaving so that I can secure them. (They've been known to run away)
