A simple kind of paradise
Charming, rustic, peaceful 1852 farm house perched on a slope over a pond on 10 acres near the end of a dirt road. A quiet home in a quiet rural town of Worthington in the Berkshires, 30 min from Northampton, 2 hours from Boston and 3.5 from New York. Nested in nature, there are looping trails that will take you through the woods from green lush summer to multicolor fall, to winter when generous snow covers the hills. The space This is a quiet, rustic home with all the necessary amenities (heating system, dishwasher, laundry washer/dryer, smart TV etc., high speed internet). At its center is a wide kitchen with cathedral ceiling and a wood stove. The long counter and a butcher block allow you to cook as a team. This is where we spend most of our time in the winter. The dining room with its elegant fireplace competes with the "panorama room" and its large bay window and a view on the pasture. There is an office space with a desk, and a three season room overlooking the pond with chirping frogs where in summer you can write your memoir. The rest of the year it is pretty cold! Two rooms upstairs, two bathrooms downstairs make it easy for two couples to share the space, or for a small family to feel home. Guest access You can access the whole house, its vegetable garden, its 10 acres of land, as well as the 70 acres of forest behind it. The barn is off limits. The pond is not deep enough to swim or sink in. You are welcome to help yourself in our vegetable gardens, but please stay away from the terraced garden for it's easy to slip and fall down the stone stairs. Our heating system is quite efficient, please set the thermostat for your desired temperature rather than use the fireplace or wood stove. If you live in a house with a wood stove and use it regularly then we are open to discussing it.
