Come savour Stargazer Retreat! Our classic midcentury modern getaway offers comfort and enjoyment for families or couples looking to relax and soak up Flathead Lake living. Have a seat in our cushy deck furniture and delight in the grandeur of a beautiful sunrise while sipping a locally roasted brew. Head down to the beach to select your favourite floaty or lounge on the private dock while soaking up the sun. Children of all ages will stay fully entertained with endless activities at the ready! This cozy 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom lake place offers perfect proximity to all that the Flathead Valley has to offer. Stargazer is located 5 minutes from the sweet town of Lakeside, close to the neighboring town of Kalispell, Bigfork and Whitefish, and just 45 minutes from Glacier National Park. Stargazer has a panoramic view of Flathead Lake, which is crowned by the Swan and Mission mountain ranges and faces east toward the glittering lights of Bigfork. Even with the many sights to see around the valley, you may never want to leave the property with all its amenities. The Cabin: This cozy cabin boasts a midcentury modern vibe and can comfortably sleep up to 8 guests. The lake place has high speed internet, and a printer can be provided for those who are working remotely, or are staying with us for an extended period of time. There are two independent floors, each with their own living room area and full bathroom. As you enter the main floor, you’ll be greeted with an open concept area: a dining table that seats 8, great for group meals or a lively evening with one of our many board games. Beyond is the cozy living room, complete with a brand new thermostatically controlled gas fireplace for the occasional cool summer evening, or when you want to warm up after a powder ski day. Our main floor has AC when the days are without a breeze and you’d like a little more air flow. You’ll find access to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ for all your viewing needs. And speaking of viewing, with floor to ceiling windows you’ll never be left wanting for a view while relaxing in this living area! To the left of the entrance is a well equipped kitchen, fully stocked with: - loads of cooking utensils - dish ware - coffee maker and coffee grinder - pots, pans, cookie sheets, baking dishes - crockpot, air fryer, blender, toaster, rice cooker - baking supplies - spices - growler jugs for the Tamarack Brewery - full knife block and steak knives - serving platters/bowls - full fridge/freezer - small oven/stove - large microwave/convection oven - small dishwasher ** If you would like the fridge pre stocked with your favorite essentials, we would be happy to try and accommodate! ** Down the hall is a full bathroom with a tub, great for little ones, and just past that is a stack washer and dryer. The top floor hosts one bedroom with a Temperpedic queen bed. This bedroom has two full side by side closets with hanging space and lots of drawers. If the views are calling you outside, we have not one, but two decks for your enjoyment! The front deck presents an excellent place for a morning coffee, or to overlook the beach fire in the evening. The larger main deck is an excellent gathering spot for conversing about a great day, playing games or dining outside. Behind the kitchen you’ll find the back deck with a large Weber Barbecue and a little fridge/freezer for extra beverages and ice. Outside stairs take you to the walkout basement where you will find the other three bedrooms and the second bathroom. The front bedroom has a queen, full, and upper twin bed. The second bedroom has a full and upper twin bed. There is a spacious curtained bedroom with a queen bed toward the back of the main area. All have ample closet and drawer space. With an extra living space, tv and fridge on the bottom level, you may find this to be a great space to read a book apart from the group, squeeze some remote work in, or get in a workout with the provided yoga mats and weights! We have a laptop friendly work space in our sitting area. Our lift top coffee table will accommodate two laptops, as it folds out to a full table. This is great for game night as well! We have added a convenient bakers rack that houses a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and an air popper. If the kids are hanging out down stairs and want to heat up a snack or pop some corn during a movie, there's no need to run upstairs! While the walk out basement stays quite cool, we do have full size fans in each room for a little “extra” airflow on hot summer nights. The Property: There really is an endless amount of activities to do at the property alone! Starting with the private dock with a ladder, and plenty of space for lounge chairs. If you rented a boat or seadoo we have a mooring ball and cleats on the dock for you to choose from to secure your water craft. Stay here all day if you wish for swimming, tanning, reading etc. The pebble beach is where you’ll find the large fire pit area, big enough to comfortably fit your whole group. We’ll be happy to provide you with a s’mores basket! We supply plenty of free wood, easily accessible by the beach shed. Our beach shed holds all of the water toys and gear you may need. Are you into fishing? We have a few fishing poles, nets and additional gear for you to use. About 40 feet out from the dock the lake drops to about 50 feet which is a spot the fish like to hang. During the day you can snorkel in the shallow bay to discover all the beautifully coloured rocks. Want to paint them? You can find a small paint set in the desk on the first floor of the cabin. Here on the beach is where you can find two paddle boards, one adult kayak and two youth kayaks. There are 20+ life jackets of all sizes and paddles are provided in the beach shed. For swimming or relaxing in the lake we have plenty of floaties for lounging. Our lawn getting down to the waterfront is gently sloped, but there are two excellent spots that are flat to play lawn games. We have bocce ball, croquet, Spike Ball, Ladder Ball and Corn Hole. If you’d like to warm up after a night swim we have a 2 person, soft sided hot tub outside the basement level floor. If you are staying during the spring, fall or winter months the hot tub feels wonderful to relax in and warm up. There is free parking available for three vehicles, NO motorhomes please. If you are considering bringing a boat, please inquire about restrictions on size and mooring requirements. Do to lower than usual lake levels, we are not able to accommodate any recreational boats such as pontoons or surf boats at this time. An exception may be made for small fishing boats. Please enquire before booking. If you choose to rent a boat, there are kleets on the dock for loading and unloading of passengers. Come stay at Stargazer! We strive to make your stay comfortable and memorable. We know the Flathead Valley well and are happy to answer questions you may have, and will let you know of local events going on if you so choose. What is our little piece of Heaven, is now yours to enjoy! Guests have full access to the cabin and property. Three free parking spaces are available, as designated by the property line reflectors. The Location: The Stargazer cabin is conveniently located for all your vacation needs. Kalispell City Airport - 16 minute drive Glacier Park International Airport - 34 minute drive Car Rentals - Kalispell Car Rentals, Centsible Auto Rentals, Ridgeline Rides, Budget Car Rentals Lakeside - 5 minute drive - As the closest town to the cabin, you’ll find blacktail grocery, gas stations, liquor stores, pharmacy, and plenty of restaurants. Some of our favorites are Tamarack Brewing for great beer, trivia nights and a laid back vibe. The Harbour Grille is a waterfront restaurant with live music that you can boat to, and the Homestead Cafe is yummy for an excellent breakfast/brunch. There are two excellent coffee shops for that special latte, and an upscale dining experience at the Beargrass restaurant. For a unique event during your stay, Lakeside throws a classic wooden boat show in August. Blacktail Mountain Ski resort is right above the town of Lakeside. If you’re a skier or snowboarder and you want a local experience, with little to no lines, uncut, powder and more affordable lift tickets, this is the place for you. In the summer Blacktail Mountain also provides access to a few great local hiking and biking trails where you can also go wild Huckleberry picking! Somers - 5 minute drive - A small local community with access to Somers Beach State Park and boat launch. Somers Bay Cafe is another excellent breakfast spot. Del’s Bar is a local favorite for mini golf and bingo nights. Kalispell - 19 minute drive- This bustling town is where you can do more extensive shopping at major grocery or big box stores and all of your regular in town needs. There are many restaurants, bars and breweries to check out. A few favorites are Mooses Saloon for a very unique western experience with the best pizza, The Ritz cocktail bar boasts a very cool art deco vibe, and Alley Connection for the best Wor Wonton soup ever! You might want to check out Norm’s News, founded in 1938, for a classic diner and candy shoppe experience. Woodland Park is a stunning local park with water fountains and bridges and is very close to the Conrad Mansion Museum, a great spot for some local history. In the summer, you can expect a few art festivals and beer festivals in Depot Park. In August, the Northwest Montana fair comes to town where you can go on all the rides, play games, and also check out the rodeo! Bigfork - 21 minute drive - This charming town is alive with beautiful galleries, seasonal artisans festivals and great live entertainment at a multiple of the restaurants and pubs. If you’d like to check out a play or musical, the Bigfork Summer Playhouse is right downtown on Electric Avenue. Some restaurant recommendations are The Garden Bar for pub food and a fun night out. Its walls are plastered with old local signs and has a backyard vibe behind the main bar, with a big shady tree in its center and a stage for live music. For fine dining, check out The Great Northern Gourmet or Show Thyme. A beautiful quick trail to check out would be the Wild Mile, named for its famous Whitewater Festival where kayakers brave the cold water rapids in May. It's a great spot to go for a walk with your pup on leash. If you rented a boat, you can also boat over and pull up at the public dock in Bigfork Bay. Whitefish - 37 minute drive - A classic small mountain village with many bars, restaurants, shops and galleries. Whitefish Mountain Resort is a playground for skiers and snowboarders who prefer a large resort style experience. In the summer time you can hike up the mountain and the gondola down (or vice versa), go zip lining, mountain biking, alpine sliding/tubing and have fun at the aerial adventure park in the treetops! For a beautiful all season walk through the town and to the public beach, check out Riverside Park. Some favorite restaurants are Latitude 48 Bistro for an incredible upscale dinner, and for a different cocktail bar vibe go downstairs to their Red Room Lounge. If a pub or bar is what you're after, check out The Great Northern, Caseys and the Bulldog Saloon. Glacier National Park - 55 minute drive - To fully describe this park and all its beauty would be impossible. If you are coming to experience the park during part of your stay you’ve probably already done a ton of research. Known as the crown of the continent, Glacier hosts an incredible amount of activities, most obviously hiking. If you need any hiking recommendations, check out AllTrails and filter for your activity level to find a trail perfect for you. If you aren’t a hiker, the drive up the Going To The Sun road is remarkable alone. Drive your own vehicle or take a vintage Red Jammer up with a guide who will tell you fascinating insights about the park's history. Other things to do in the park include, rafting, hitting up the cute gift shops, visiting a local distillery, the Amazing Fun Center for a 2 level wooden maze, go karting, and bumper boats, Big Sky Waterpark and more. Don’t forget to stop at the Huckleberry Patch on your way back to the cabin for a Huckleberry milkshake or some ice cream! Other Experiences: Big Sky Parasailing - pick up at the Lakeside or Somers public boat docks. Far West Boat Tours - an hour and 45 minute long charter of Flathead Lake, located by the Harbor Grille in Lakeside University of Montana Griz game - the university is located in Missoula which is 2 hours south of the cabin. But if you’re here in the fall (don’t sleep on the shoulder seasons in Montana!) then catching a college football game is a great day trip away. Quinn’s Hot Springs - an hour and 19 minute drive south offers a lovely relaxing day trip. If you’ve rented a boat, we’d recommend boating over close to Bigfork , east of the mouth of the Flathead River (where there is excellent fishing) to what the locals call the Sand Bar. Here you can drop anchor and float around and play in the 3-6 feet of water, with silky sand beneath your feet. The water temperatures are delightfully warm! Are you a golfer? There are over 9 courses for you to play on all over the Flathead Valley, all with incredible views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Many people come for the summer or winter seasons but if you are a photographer or an outdoorsy person the shoulder seasons offer less crowds and ample trails to explore. Did you know Wildhorse Island towards the south end of the lake actually has wild horses on it? It also has Big Horn Sheep and deer. If you didn’t rent a boat you can charter a tour to take you there to hike around and try to spot them, or hang out in one of the small coves and play. The town of Polson is a 40 minute drive south and if you are into classic cars, they usually have a couple car shows in the summer months. Kerr Dam is just south west of Polson and is a fabulous sight to see.
