Description

Secluded studio with full kitchen, vaulted wood ceilings with exposed beams, ceiling fan, cozy lighting, wrap-around large lanai, coordinated color theme, garden views, paved roads, centrally located for visiting Volcanoes Nat'l Park, Mauna Kea, Hilo, Pahoa, and Kalapana. Located in peaceful, rural neighborhood and about 1.5 miles to the lava cliff coast line. The space The ohana (guest house) is located at the back of our one acre property and is not visible from the road. There are two other structures between the ohana and our main house, giving you complete privacy, plus the bedroom and living room areas are facing away from the main house and are surrounded by garden views, so you really do feel like you have your own little hideaway. There is a solar light pathway from the parking space to the ohana for nighttime arrivals, as well as a motion sensor security light. We are located in a 15-square mile subdivision called Hawaiian Paradise Park, about a mile away from the lava cliff coast line. This location is ideal for those who want to see as much of this side of the island as is possible because it is centrally located. It's about 22 minutes north to Hilo, 45 minutes west to Volcanoes National Park, 12 minutes south to Pahoa, 35 minutes south to the new black sand beach left behind by the last lava eruptions (May-Jul 2018) at Isaac Hale Beach Park. The Big Island is massive, and there is no getting out of long drives no matter where you stay. Our unit can accommodate 2 adults. Guest access You are welcome to use our washer and dryer. They are located in the carport storage area - the unlocked double doors to the left. We provide laundry soap, bleach and dryer sheets. Other things to note As is common here on the Hilo side of the island, our neighbors have dogs and roosters that you will hear. You would probably have to stay right in Hilo town if you don't want to hear the roosters and most of the other nature sounds, but even then it's not a sure thing because chickens and roosters run loose all over the islands. I even hear them inside the back room at the Hilo airport post office! There are also some coqui frogs and crickets singing at night. I love them, personally, but some don't. The two oscillating fans can be used as white noise to help cover the nighttime sounds and I have also included a high-quality sound machine with 10 different sound scenarios to help muffle the rooster calls. There is no A/C, however there is a ceiling fan and 2 stand fans. You may have heard that Hilo gets a lot of rain. This is true, but most times it comes as quick passing showers. The heavier rains usually come at night and pass within a few minutes. Winter time is our rainy season. Registration details 031-630-1824-01
