It is surrounded by tropical trees, flowers and plants. Our location is in a beautiful valley, close to several popular attractions such as South Point, Green Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach and the hiking trails of Kahuku, a section of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Owner lives on the property and is available to share Hawaiian history and cultural wisdom on request. The entire house, including a laundry room, is available to guests. I have lived on the island for 18 years and studied hula, Hawaiian culture and history. I am a writer and founder of a local magazine. There are several beaches and hiking areas within a short drive. It is a rural area and has a small-town feel. Nearby attractions are the Green Sand Beach, South Point, Black Sand Beach and Volcanoes National Park. We are located on the southwest corner of the island, half way between the two large cities of Kailua-Kona and Hilo. Guests often use this as a base to travel around the island on day trips. A rental car is necessary to get around. Even though this is a rural area, there are a number of restaurants and takeout facilities to offer a variety of eating options and an outdoor market three days a week.
