We are about 1-5 hrs from both Kona & Hilo but only minutes away from town and other attractions in the area. Use your car to get around town and to and from your destinations. Use your feet for a nice walk around the neighborhood. * NOTE: The studio is attached to the main house where we (the hosts) live so you may hear some household sounds or voices on occasion but these will be minimal and non-disruptive. * LOCATION: This is a quiet, small, rural town away from crowded tourist areas which is part of its charm. Please consider before deducting stars for location in your review. * RESTAURANTS: We have some restaurant options in Naalehu mainly for lunch, including some nice coffee houses BUT breakfast & dinner options are limited and eateries mostly close early. Ocean View, about 15 mins to the west of our location offers more breakfast and dinner options as does Volcano Village and Volcano Park. 45 mins to our east. (See guidebook). Plan dinners out when you are traveling to neighboring towns and visiting attractions there or grab some food earlier in the day that you can prepare or reheat in the suite for breakfast or dinner. Hours and menus of eateries featured in our guidebook are subject to change without our knowledge so please visit websites or call to verify. * SHOPPING: Shopping is limited in our area so pick up food and drinks for the suite in Kona at (Costco, Target, Walmart & large grocery stores) or Hilo (Target, Walmart & large grocery stores). These will give you more variety and better prices. Ocean View, about 15 mins to the west of our location, has 2 traditional local grocery stores. * CHILD SAFETY: Children are welcome as guests but THE SUITE IS NOT CHILD PROOF. CLEANING SUPPLIES AND CHEMICALS ARE WITHIN EASY REACH UNDER THE SINKS. Parents are responsible to supervise children. *WILDLIFE NOISE: Hawaii Island is teaming with natural wildlife. Coqui frogs (tiny frogs that sing or chirp only at night) and birds early and throughout the morning and afternoon. If you sleep with door or windows open to enjoy the breeze, you will hear them so we provide a white noise machine to soften sounds and earplugs if needed. If doors/windows are closed, the sound is greatly reduced or non-existent and air conditioning and/or ceiling fan can be utilized for comfort. *SERVICE ANIMALS: Please let us know at the time of booking that you will have a service animal in the suite so we know to expect one.
