The neighborhood is very safe for taking a walk or going to the library, Irish Pub, Chinese food, laundromat, church, tiny museum, or college bus stop. Belchertown's commerce is a little spread out so you will not find a classic New England center with many shops. However everything you might need is within easy driving distance. We are in the Belchertown Historic District. This is a main street so there is some traffic noise when the windows are open. It is a safe area, but we do recommend locking your car at night. If you hike in the area, you are encouraged to use tick/mosquito repellant. Please see the five college/UMASS bus schedule online to see the latest routes and schedules. The bus stop is a very short walk from the house. Please note that the bus runs less frequently when the colleges are not in session. Valley Transportation in Amherst is a good company for rides to and from the airport or train. Uber and Lyft also operates in the area. Rental cars are available in Amherst about 15 minutes away on the bus line and sometimes deliver.Most guests enjoy having a car. Please message us if interested in a long stay. We can occasionally accommodate them and can offer further discounts once we talk about your daily needs.
