Welcome to Green Sands Oasis! Dakine cottage is a studio set-up. Take it easy at our unique getaway on your way to discovering the southern most point of the United States! This is tropical country at its best, with all the comforts of home, including a queen bed and very comfortable daybed. Our kitchen is for your enjoyment while dining in. This cottage offers a more private stay with a rustic charming front porch for relaxing mornings and evenings and is separate from our other cabins. We want our future guests to know that these are very comfortable, basic cabins. Our cabins are clean, simple, and rustic; typical of the 'Old Hawaii' style. Our farm is a wonderful place to stay with an abundance of nature down here at the southern-most tip of the United States. We have an open/outdoor shared kitchen with a large, well-lit dining area. We have most items needed to cook meals and also have a refrigerator to keep your food cold. Please respect our community kitchen and clean up after yourselves. Fresh produce is available at local markets and road-side stands when in season. Please follow my directions as GPS seems to get people lost. *Follow Highway 11/Hawaii Belt Rd until you reach South Point Road. Continue for about a mile and a half. You will see a wooden sign that says Green Sands Oasis. It is a wooden log sign and the address is 93-2073. You will turn into the driveway and right into our place. Please park in the area facing the road. Across from the parking area you will see the Dakine Cottage. PLEASE RESPECT OUR QUIET HOURS (9pm - 8am)! If you are arriving after 9pm, please text me and let me know. I will leave your outside light on. Other things to note: This area of the island is more remote, so whether you are coming from Hilo or Kona, you may want to stock up on groceries or snacks before heading down this way. There are two small markets located in Ocean View, which is 10 miles before Naalehu coming from Kona. There are also two small restaurants in Naalehu that close pretty early. We are always happy to give anyone a detailed description. Be sure to check out the other six listings! We live on our property further up the driveway. Our property consists of an old orange orchard. The orchard is mostly covered since it was neglected for years, but you can ask permission to hike the property. There is management available. Please contact us via the Airbnb app. For emergency purposes only please see our contact phone number on the app. Mahalo! We have very few neighbors, and it is usually very quiet and peaceful. Green Sands Beach is only 8 miles from our house. You can also visit the southernmost tip of the United States if you drive straight to the point! There are cliffs to jump and epic sunsets to watch. The Big Island is just that....BIG! It is best to rent a vehicle to be able to choose which direction you want to explore.
