Tucked away on 3 acres of native rainforest the Ohia Studio at Volcano Village Retreat is the perfect spot to rest and relax after a day of exploring Volcanoes National Park located just 2 miles away. Recently purchased, the interior of the unit has been completely refreshed and furnished with new, modern furniture and decor. Please search for "Kamaka Cottage" to see our other listing for reference of our design style. This studio unit includes a queen size bed with high end mattress and luxury linens. The kitchenette has basic cooking amenities including a hotplate, pots and pans, cutlery, microwave, mini-fridge, and sink to allow for small meals to be prepped if you'd prefer to stay in. A coffee bar with free coffee and tea will delight your senses at the start of a misty Volcano morning. The tranquil bathroom includes updated vanity and flooring with all natural soap, shampoo and conditioner for your use. You will access the unit via a digital keypad on the door. There is free onsite parking and each unit has it's own separate entrance. The cabin is located in Volcano Village a small and quite town with an active arts center and just a few coffee shops and restaurants. Due to the large amounts of rain and sunshine the area has lush foliage and abundant wildlife. Due to the remoteness of the village a car is vital in getting to and from it and also makes access to the National park easier. This home is located near three other similar units so you may see other guests on site. We have hosts that live on site and are there to address and needs you have during your stay. The State of Hawai'i has two taxes which affect visitors to the islands: Transient Accommodations Tax and General Excise Tax. The taxes collected by the host from guests for lodgings stays total 14.96%, during 2020. Residents of Volcano Village actively participate in keeping exterior lighting low so the only street lights in the village are at the highway, where Wright Road and Haunani Road begin and go up through the village. Consequently, the roads are dark at night. This cottage is at approximately 3720-feet/1134-meters of elevation. During winter months it gets cool, sometimes below 45ºF/7.2ºC. For this reason visitors to our island need to bring warm jackets, as well as bathing suits. License number TA-037-427-4560-01
