Four Season Cozy Cottage on Lake Mattawa

Welcome to Lake Mattawa! The house is close to all that Western MA has to offer during all 4 seasons - hiking, fishing, skiing, antiquing & more. 30 minutes from Amherst & Greenfield, 45 from Keene NH & Brattleboro VT, 60 from Springfield & Worcester, & 90 from Providence and Boston. The space Our charming house on the lake offers beautiful views from the elevated deck, as well as a private dock to jump right into the clear water. In cooler weather, enjoy a fire in the fieldstone fireplace. The house is a lake retreat built in the 1950s from salvaged 19th century barn timbers and includes a fieldstone fireplace. The fireplace is usable throughout the year. The living room, kitchen and dining area are on the first floor and the bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs. The queen bedroom is accessible through the larger bedroom. That being said, our house is best suited for families or close friends. We provide coffee, propane, two kayaks and one canoe, life vests, and a Bluetooth speaker. There is a deck overlooking the lake as well as a private dock directly across the street from the house with a canoe. The canoe & kayaks are usable as long as the lake is ice-free (generally April through November). The lake is well stocked and is a popular spot for local fishermen all year round. Lake Mattawa has a 10HP limit for boats, so there aren't any jetskis or loud motorboats. Guest access You'll have access to the whole house, the dock, the canoe, the kayak and as much of Lake Mattawa as you'd like! The driveway is level with the basement, so the first floor is up a flight of stairs. The only bathroom is on the second floor, so if climbing stairs is a problem for any member of your group, our house may not be a good choice for you. Other things to note Important note about ladybugs: Ladybugs love our spot, especially in the spring and fall. It's not unusual to see them gathered near the windows during those times of year. They're completely harmless and are considered by many to bring good luck.
