Crossbridge
Parklike privacy on 26 acres in the heart of the Berkshires. Includes attached apartment with separate entrance and kitchen. Various, versatile living spaces are well-suited for retreats, creative work and friend/family gatherings. Artists, writers, and musicians have come here for a quiet place to work in a beautiful, diverse natural setting. An 1860s farmhouse with 1970s addition, recently renovated to include a chef's kitchen with brick oven, large-screen smart TV, radiant heating in 4 bathrooms and other areas, and central A/C, with thermostats in every room. We have 1 wood-burning fireplace (in dining/living room), a wood-fired oven, a Weber grill, a front porch and a back deck. 4 of the bathrooms have walk-in showers. The (cable-based) WiFi/internet works very well throughout the house. Cellular service depends on your provider: Verizon reception is normal; other networks are spotty, but most smartphones are able to connect with “WiFi calling.” The pond isn’t suitable for swimming, as it is a thriving habitat for wildlife. We have a small rowboat that you can use to explore it. It is clearly visible from the house. We’re easy to reach by text. In the spring-fall, gardeners will visit to mow and do groundskeeping. The house is in West Stockbridge, south Berkshire County, 15 minutes from historic Lenox to the north or Great Barrington's fine dining and shopping to the south, with easy access to the best of the area. The house is 20-25 minutes away from Butternut, Bousquet and Catamount ski resorts. The house is just across the border from New York State, less than 3 hours drive from New York or 2 hours from Boston. You will need a car to access the house and get around the area. If you have guests coming via Amtrak from New York City, they'll go from Penn Station to the Hudson, NY station. Those coming from the north or west will use the Albany-Rennsellaer station. Both are about 40 minutes drive from the house. The Metro-North train (cheaper, more frequent) goes from Grand Central to Wassaic station, an hour from the house. Boston trains go to the Amtrak Pittsfield station, twenty minutes from the house. A Peter Pan bus goes from New York's Port Authority to Stockbridge; a Greyhound from Boston goes to Lee, both less than 15 minutes from the house. Generally, Friday and Saturday night should be booked together and reservations shouldn't start on Sunday or Monday. Exceptions considered. 3 night minimum. Discounts available for stays longer than 1 week.
