This vintage 1970s time capsule located in the charming Beaverdale neighborhood has its own unique and authentic style. Built in 1972, the original features of the home have remained in great condition. Named “one of the prettiest neighborhoods in America” by Forbes Magazine, Beaverdale is a must-see when visiting Des Moines. An ideal evening would be strolling around the neighborhood looking at the “Beaverdale Bricks” and then stopping for a malt at Snookie’s Malt Shop! 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath The space This '1970s Home' was built in 1972, and remains in similar condition to as it did when it was built. The original carpets are still in the home, and have been well taken care of. You will find the midcentury piano in the Formal Living Room that has been with the home since it was built, along with the midcentury dining room table, chairs, hutch and chandelier. There is a stylish 1970's Italian-inspired sofa that invites a lovely conversation over tea and coffee, set against a floor to ceiling gold-speckled mirror. The bay windows give great natural light and a scenic view of the iconic Beaverdale street (tree-lined with quaint Beaverdale Brick Homes). The Dining Room is located between the Formal Living Room and the Family Room, with great views of the home and easy access to the Kitchen. The nostalgic Family Room brings you right back to 1972. The wood paneling on the walls and the exposed beams bring an element of cozy winter vibes, and another stylish, chic 1970s Italian-inspired sofa you'll melt right into and not want to move! The wood burning fireplace is by far the best feature of the home, as it truly provides the "winter wonderland" perfection ambience. There are no ceiling lights, so the mood of the lighting is so cozy and idyllic. Don't miss the classic Wet Bar in the Family Room as well, which is stocked with vintage glassware for all of your libations. Included are movie-theatre popcorn bags for a movie fireside. The other furniture in the Family is also from the 1970s, with some elements that are family heirlooms. As surf culture/California are a big part of the owner's life, you will find iconic Slim Aarons photography of surfers in Newport Beach from the late 60s. The Kitchen is another favorite area of the home, as it has remained in the same condition as it was in the 1970s. There is plenty of space to cook and entertain with the island there. Plenty of pantry space and everything you need to cook with! For coffee drinkers: I do provide a Nespresso Machine, French Press, and a Chemex. There is a Half Bath on the main floor off of the Kitchen. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a Full Bath. Master Bedroom - Queen Size Bed (Stearns&Foster Luxury Mattress), Large Walk-In Closet, Dresser Bedroom #2 - Twin Size Bed, Dresser, Kids Vanity Bedroom #3 - Full Size Bed, Office Space (Desk,Printer), Large Closet Bedroom #4 - Queen Size Bed (Stearns&Foster Luxury Mattress) **Located in the basement** Full Bath - Bathtub and Shower. The bathroom has been fully renovated, modern and is very clean. The basement has a play room for kids and washer/dryer. Detached two-car garage. Plenty of street parking and long driveway. Guest access You will have access to the entire house and garage. There will just be a couple closets that I will have a note on to keep shut as there may be some personal belongings in there. Other things to note I would appreciate if guests do NOT use the fireplace in the summer months or leave windows/doors open with the A/C running. It gets way too hot here!
