4 Bedroom Farmhouse close enough/far enough
Our spacious, light-filled , farmhouse is 20 minutes from Great Barrington, 20 minutes from Lee, 30 minutes from Tanglewood. Close enough to restaurants and culture, far enough to not be in the middle of the bustle. 4 bedrooms (2 king, 2 queen), 2.5 baths. Great kitchen for cooking - all the high quality pots, pans and utensils you'll need. New deck across the back of the house, Wifi, air conditioning. Lots of hiking trails within 10 -30 minutes, as well as swimming. The space Our spacious and easy-to-live-in farm house was originally built in 1850. There are beautiful, colorful rugs and original art throughout, as well as a number of beautiful oak antiques. Central air conditioning for hot summer days. Reliable toasty heat for cold winter days. Bedrooms: 2 king bedrooms (one on the main floor, one upstairs), 2 queen bedrooms (both upstairs). The master bedroom has a desk that is perfect for work. Living & Dining areas: The dining and living areas have a lovely open floor plan and lots of light. A super cozy couch, and a Yogibo (human size bean bag - gotta try it!) for relaxing. Kitchen: Our kitchen encourages cooking! It is well set up with high quality pots/pans, utensils, gas stove and a sizable fridge. Appliances are less than two - three years old. There are two sets of large doors (with screens) going out to the deck. This provide a wonderful indoor/outdoor feel during the warm weather. Deck: There is a newly rebuilt deck that extends across the back of the house. Entrances are from the kitchen and the master bedroom for a wonderful indoor/outdoor feel in the warmer weather. Bathrooms: 2.5 bathrooms are plenty to accomodate up to 8 guests. Laundry room: There are a washer and dryer. Other stuff worth noting: Great wifi and a sleek TV (No cable, but you can use your Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu or other streaming service, if you have it.) We have central air conditioning that is great if the weather gets hot and sticky. Otherwise, lots of windows, along with screen doors in the kitchen for ventilation. Great heating system in cold weather. Heating and air conditioning system are less than three years old. There are thermostats on each floor. There is a charcoal grill. Please read house notes for use of the grill, as clean up is extra important to avoid animals who may be attracted to left-overs that are left out. Pets: We welcome well-behaved and well-taken care of dogs. Dogs are charged at the rate of $50/stay. No more than two dogs per stay. Please let us know in advance if booking with a dog(s). We request a short description of your dog. And, please note additional requirements for dogs in the house rules. Thanks! Guest access You will have access to pretty much the whole house: kitchen, living and dining areas, laundry room, all four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The few areas that we keep private are: a small office (on the second floor), a storage closet off of one of the upstairs bedrooms and the basement. We will not use the house at all during your stay. You will have use of the land most directly around the house and the meadow next to the house. We live in the renovated barn on the property behind the house. You will not have use of the property behind the barn. Other things to note The maximum number of guests is 8. Pricing model: There is a base rate for up to 4 guests. For each guest 5-8 there is an additional charge of $25/guest per night. This is a common AirBnB pricing model. Pets: Dogs only, please. A maximum of 2 dogs per stay. Each dog is an additional $50 /dog for the full stay. It’s fine to allow your dog to sit on the living room couch as long as you use one of the gray quilts you will find in the living room area. Our house is in the country. There are a couple of convenience stores and a gas station about 10 minutes away. Supermarkets are in Lee (about 20 minutes) and Great Barrington (about 20 minutes away). So it's a good idea to plan to either bring some groceries to get started or plan to go food shopping when you arrive. There are a number of good restaurants in Great Barrington and Lee. Guests access the house through the back kitchen door into the mudroom. There is a key lockbox next to the door. We will give you the entry code in our house notes before check in. Septic system: Since we are in the country, we have a well and septic system. Please read house notes on this. Outdoor fun: The house is super close to many hiking and walking trails, within 5-30 minutes. There are several nearby lakes/ponds for swimming. For cyclists, the roads provide a beautiful way to see the Berkshires up close. It's hilly, though! In winter, there is cross-country skiing close by, downhill skiing and snowboarding at Otis Ridge (5 minutes), Butternut (20 minutes) and Catamount (35 minutes). See guidebook for recommendations for hiking, restaurants, food shopping Lee Premium Outlets: We know you probably didn't come to the Berkshires to go shopping. But... In case you are so inclined, the Lee Premium Outlets are about 20 minutes away in Lee.
