Description

Whispering Pines log cabin retreat 20 mins from downtown, this is a hand built log home with 4 bedrooms, 5 beds, and comfortably sleeps 8. Nice big hot tub Great after a day of hiking or skiing. Nice outdoor seating area near the pond. Lots of room if you’re pulling sleds or atvs. Trails close by. This home is located approximately: 45 minutes to Flathead Lake. 30 mins to the Kettlehouse Amphitheater. 30 to Snowbowl and about an hour to Blacktail Ski Areas The space People love this place for a variety of reasons. We are close to the highway, so it’s easy to get in and out, even in the winter. However it is very private. No neighbors staring at you. We have set this place up to accommodate families, so for all of you who plan to cook at home, we have equipped the kitchen with plenty of larger cooking utensils like a large roaster and a crock pot. We know some of you want that, and you will find it here. Clean mountain water runs thru the property, and our drinking water is second to none as it comes from a deep mountain well. Our family of ducks are very friendly, and love to be fed fresh veggies. If they get to be a bother for you, please let us know. But they do wander the property, and we ask that you be mindful of their location when driving in and out of the property. We have a large outdoor fire pit that sits next to the pond, right out your back door. Great for cooking on, or just to have a bonfire at night. **The use of the outdoor fire pit is NOT a guarantee due to seasonal issues with fire controls.*** Even if there is not a burn ban, we may not allow an open fire there for various reasons. Our decision making on this subject is condition related, not based on who you are or your knowledge. If this is important to you during your stay, please ask specifically about it, and depending on how far in advance you book, we will do our best to be accurate. We can offer assistance with many aspects of your stay. From ideas on places to visit, to the transportation to get there. Feel free to ask questions prior to your arrival, and we can help with solutions. We are from Montana. This is home. So we know a little about it. This house was hand built about 50 years ago by a family. It’s roomy, with big decks and lots of seating. Upstairs is a massive comfy couch to match the massive tv. There is also a sound system, so for all those who prefer music, it’s an easy hook up for you. All the bedrooms are comfortable and have newer mattresses and linens. Everything is nice I assure you. No springs in your back! We work hard to make sure it’s always ready, and we also appreciate feedback. If you are coming in the fall or winter, it’s a fabulous time to be here also. There is ample parking for your sleds or atvs. Trails are close by and maps are easy to get. There is hiking and X country skiing opportunities everywhere in this part of Montana. Snowbowl is right in Missoula! Blacktail Ski Area is a favorite of locals, and about an hourish up the road on the lake. Incredible views of Flathead lake and the Mission Mts. Guest access You will have private access to the the house, the decks (there are 3) and the use of the pond and fire pit (with mentioned exceptions). We do live on site in another building, and we are friendly however this space will not be open to your access. Other things to note This is an area of the country that still has a bit of wild to it. Therefore, it’s not uncommon to see wildlife such as turkeys and deer…..but it sometimes includes the occasional bear, moose, or others. Don’t worry, we have not had a grizzly on site. It is not uncommon for black bears to travel along the creek that runs thru the property, and on occasion they will stop to check things out. We ask that you be conscious of your food and beverages outdoors. Especially anything after dark that might cause them interest. This is the main thing that will attract them. So enjoy cooking out, and having a few drinks…..just make sure at the end of the evening you do not leave anything out.
