The Mokihana House on Kauai, has the most incredible mountain views from the living room, dining room and lanai. The main living area comprised of the living room, dining room, kitchen and lanai are all on the upper floor to take advantage of those gorgeous mountain views. The Mokihana House is well designed to capture the trade winds with the venting windows throughout, keeping the house cool in the warmer summer months. Enjoy the heated pool and tennis court that is shared by just 26 homes in Sunset Circle -it's right out our backdoor. We are just a short 15-minute walk to the beach, a 10-minute drive to Hanalei Bay and a 5-minute drive to excellent restaurants. We have just renovated the entire house from top to bottom and inside and out. We put in 5 brand new full bathrooms, 3 of which are ensuites and 2 half-bathrooms all with Kohler fixtures and hardware. We refinished the hardwood floors and retiled the rest of the house with beautiful Daltile. We have equipped the house with 6 separate Air-Conditioning units - one in every bedroom and one in the main living area. Very few homes on the north shore of Kauai have air conditioning. We installed gorgeous grass-cloth room-darkening blinds in all the bedrooms, along with new mattresses and luxury all cotton linens to ensure a great sleep! You'll enjoy the landscaping in the back and side yards designed to provide privacy and a lush tropical Hawaiian feel. When you return from the beach, have a hot shower in the exterior wash-off area to get rid of the sand and lotions before entering the house. In the evening, you can take in the sunset in the ambiance of one of two firepits - either on the lanai or in the backyard. Please note that if any issues arise during your stay, we will do our best to attend to them promptly. We strive to attend to any repairs or maintenance issues immediately upon notification. However, on Kauai, and particularly with all the staff shortages plaguing the Western world post-covid, it can be is very difficult to conduct timely repairs due to unavailability of tradespeople and slow delivery of materials and parts. Delays are out of our control, but we do our best to reach out to our established tradespeople. Refunds will not be provided for defects or maintenance issues that do not prevent occupancy of the property. Reservations will be 100% refundable only if there is a prohibition on all travel to Kauai for all visitors or if there is a government order requiring mandatory quarantine of 7 days or greater for all visitors to Kauai that is in effect on the arrival date. We cannot provide a refund if the guest or any member of the rental party is unable to travel due to Covid or any other illness or circumstances. We recommend that all travelers purchase cancelation insurance, particularly to protect travelers in case of an illness related cancelation. Guests have the exclusive use of the whole house, yard and hot tub. The pool and tennis courts are shared use with only 26 homes in the Sunset Community Association We are always available via email. We also have an on-island contact who can assist if we are unable to do so. The Mokihana House Kauai is located in Princeville on Kauai's north shore. Princeville is an upscale, clean, lush neighborhood surrounded by mountains and the home of Kauai's most famous beach, Hanalei Bay. The Mokihana House is in the Sunset Circle Drive enclave of just 26 homes who all share the use of the pool, tennis court and clubhouse. From the Mokihana House, you'll see non-stop mountain views and lush greenery. We're just a 15-minute walk to the beach or a 10-minute drive to Hanalei Bay. We are also so close to the incredible hiking on the Napoli Coast Mountains. Bring your hiking boots, crampons and trekking poles so you can take full advantage of the incredible hikes. We just can't get enough of them! It's best to have a vehicle when visiting Kauai. You will want to see the mountains, the beaches and the rivers and the best way to get to all of them is with a vehicle. You can walk around our neighborhood, buy groceries, go out for dinner, and go to the beach without a car, but if you want to explore the surroundings, we recommend renting a vehicle. Most people rent Jeeps - and they are a great idea for Kauai! We require all guests to sign a rental contract that is provided after booking. The details of it are set out in our listing. We have a minimum age of 30 years for all guests in the rental party except for children travelling with parents or grandparents. The Mokihana House is located in a quiet residential neighborhood where most people sleep with their windows open to capture the wonderful trade winds in the night. It is imperative that guests respect our neighbors and make no noise after 10pm. This is not a party house. There are pests such as cockroaches, ants, centipedes and the like in tropical destinations. Guests must clean up their dirty dishes and discard their garbage to avoid attracting pests. We have regular pest control, but it will not prevent all pests. Guests are required to leave the kitchen clean as they found it, to wash and dry all towels before their departure and to clean and put away any beach equipment used for the next guests. These tasks are not included in the cleaning fee. Additional charges will apply for guests who do not abide by these rules. Guests are required to take the garbage cans out to the curb on Tuesday evening and bring them back to the side of the house on Wednesday evening. If these rules are not followed, the guest will have to pay fines issued by the Princeville Patrol as well as administration fees. If guests leave any items at the property, there is a $100 fee plus shipping to return any items. We have to pay our property managers to ship packages and the cost is exorbitant; we cannot absorb it.
