Step into this is a historic Victorian built in 1866 and furnished with antiques so you'll feel like you're experiencing old New Orleans, but was recently fully renovated so you'll have all modern comforts, including central heat & air, ample hot water and screaming-fast Wi-Fi. We are easy walking distance to the French Quarter and there are two world-famous jazz clubs two blocks away, yet we're in a beautiful quiet pocket so although you can easily get to "the crazy" you have a quiet oasis. Your accommodation includes the grand main bedroom with ensuite bathroom and another large bedroom with separate seating and vanity area which has it's own bathroom just across the hall. There is a fully-stocked kitchen, laundry room and living room. Enjoy coffee or cocktails in your private backyard with deck and an L-shaped outdoor couch and bistro tables. Although you'll be enjoying the look of old New Orleans, the home was gutted and lovingly restored and features soaring cathedral ceilings and skylights, but all of the original charm was maintained, such as the original mahogany wood floors and wooden beams from the 1860's bracing the cathedral ceilings. Step into your luxurious Main bedroom Suite with a King-sized Canopy bed and separate lounging which opens onto your own private deck and garden. Sumptuous ensuite bathroom with old-fashioned claw-foot soaking tub and rain shower. There is also a separate desk area fully stocked with office supplies for business travelers. The second bedroom has a Queen-sized bed with luxury linens, separate seating area and a vanity table/desk. Two soft and fluffy robes and slippers in each room as well. The second guest bathroom is right across the hall from this bedroom. The home also includes a fully appointed kitchen outfitted with every type of gadget and utensil you can imagine, really sharp knives, varietal-correct Riedel stemware, hand-painted French china and many other amenities. The living room has comfortable seating, a flat screen Smart TV with all of the streaming channels and a blue-tooth speaker system. We also have a selection of board games, playing cards, etc. Extra full guest bathroom with a deep soaking tub/rain shower combo. We supply all of the toiletries you can possibly need, including two blow dryers, flat irons, curling irons, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, contact solution, (and much more) If you forget anything I'll bet we have it! Full laundry room with all supplies necessary (this is for your own personal use - you won't be washing any linens or towels). Gated and locked parking. (This is a city carport, so large SUV's are a bit of a tight squeeze, but still possible - just let your guests out before you park). This home is perfect for two couples or for two travelers who each want their own bedroom and their own bathroom -- especially for business travelers. Both of the rooms are large enough with lounging space in each bedroom so that you can have privacy and room to work, and you'll each have your own bathroom. In the master there is a full desk with office supplies including a lap desk in case you'd like to work on the deck or on the couch. The second bedroom has a vanity table and chair that can also be used as a desk. There is Wi-Fi throughout the house (100 Mbps) We greet each guest and are happy to answer any questions you have, but will give you privacy during your stay. We are easy walking distance to the French Quarter (15 minutes) and Frenchmen Street. We are 1 mile from City park and a little over a mile to Jazz Fest. We are a nice walk or a fun and easy bike ride from the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods as well as the Superdome. (Bikes for hire at a self-serve kiosk a half block from our house). We are just across the Avenue from two of the best Jazz venues in America. We are in the historic Treme neighborhood (or Faubourg Treme) which is the birthplace of Jazz and the neighborhood established by "Free People of Color" and former enslaved people in 1841. According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune: "The neighborhood, which is viewed by many as ground zero of New Orleans culture, seems to be on an upswing as people have fallen in love with the area's diverse architecture and culture. Located at the epicenter of New Orleans culture, the neighborhood is the birthplace of artists such as Kermit Ruffins, Shannon Powell, Louis Prima, Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews and Alex Chilton, and the former home of Louis Armstrong." Just six blocks from the French Quarter, but a world away when you want to relax and get a good night's sleep! We are steps from Kermit Ruffins' Treme Mother-In-Law Lounge Jazz Club and The Treme Hideaway (owned by a member of the famous Rebirth Jazz Band) the historic Dufour-Baldwin Mansion Museum is on our corner. We are blocks away from the historic St. Augustine Catholic Church (the cathedral was built in 1841) and the Backstreet Cultural Museum, which houses permanent exhibits on the Mardi Gras Indians, Jazz Funerals and other uniquely Treme-centered history. We are also a few blocks from the New Orleans African American Museum and the New Orleans Jazz Museum. We are about a 9-minute walk from the most popular bridal venues in New Orleans, such as The Degas House, Claiborne Mansion, The Benachi House, etc. (Or take a horse-draw carriage!). If you'd like to visit plantations or go on an air boat to the bayou to see alligators we're about an hour's drive away and can recommend tour companies to come pick you up. Our home is in the perfect location! We are easily walkable to the French Quarter, Frenchmen Street for live music and the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods. We are six blocks to the new Rampart Streetcar line and a half block from both the Claiborne Avenue bus routes and the Esplanade Avenue Bus Routes. Uber usually takes 3 minutes to arrive. In town for a wedding? We are a 9 minute walk to many wedding venues and mansions on Esplanade Avenue such as The Degas House, Melrose Manson, The Benachi House, Le Musee de f.p.c., etc. We are half block away from a Nola Blue Bikes self-rental station (download the app before you come). New Orleans is a very bikeable city (and is especially recommended during festival times when traffic is bad). We are a fun and easy bike ride from the Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods as well as the Superdome (geaux Saints!). While you certainly don't need to, if you choose to rent a car, we have a gated and locked off-street carport for your use, as well as ample free street parking in front of the house if you have more than one vehicle. We are a half a block to Claiborne Avenue, so you will most likely see some sort of second line or parade or block party on the weekends during your stay! But it's still quiet inside the house. Two of the best jazz clubs in America are half a block from our house. After booking we will put a request through to the portal for the $250 refundable security deposit. This will be held by Airbnb and refunded 14 days after check-out if no damages or rule breaking occur. Any damages or fees above the $250 will be requested through the Airbnb portal. We have very few "check-out" instructions. You will NOT be stripping beds or doing laundry! Here are some harsh-sounding rules that we are required to post by the "suits" at our STR insurance and by the City of New Orleans for our STR Permit: No animals of any kind are allowed in the home - even for a short visit. This includes pets, service animals, therapy dogs, emotional support peacocks, etc. The owner of the property is highly allergic, and we are maintaining this as an allergen-free home. (We also don’t use any harsh chemicals, and use all natural cleaning products, except for the alcohol we use to sanitize high-touch areas. We change the air filters every month and we use a HEPA vacuum and floor steamers with distilled water). Should an animal be brought into the home you will forfeit your deposit, you will be charged a $1,500 steam-cleaning fee and you will be evicted immediately with no credit given for unused nights. Only registered guests are allowed on the property at all times. No parties, gatherings or guests allowed on the property at any time. This is an Airbnb platform-wide rule and also a requirement of our STR permit with the City of Nola. If you have any unauthorized people in the home you will automatically forfeit your deposit, you will be charged an extra cleaning fee, you will be charged $50 for each person who entered the home or grounds and you will be evicted immediately with no credit given for days not used. You will also be liable for all damages. Airbnb may also remove you from the platform.
