Private Cottage with River Access and Wooded Yard.

The Cottage is located in South Westport on a private lane. It is available for 30 day minimum rentals at half price, and has everything one needs to relax, work from home, and enjoy time spent in a peaceful, clean environment! The lot is wooded and very private with the added bonus of the river a 2 minute walk from the house. Mooring available during stay upon request. We have a custom area and house guide at the cottage with everything you need to know to maximize your experience in the area! The space 31 day+ stays are not subject to the Mass occupancy taxes. The décor is nature vintage inspired. Eclectic but cohesive and calming. A fun blend of new and antique pieces. The house is small with just under 1,000 sq' of living space but with the large wooded yard and privacy it doesn't feel cramped. There is a wonderful 3 season sunporch on the the West(back) side of the cottage off of the kitchen. However, it can easily be used in winter with the provided electric portable heater. It is set up for dining with a retro mid century dining set, and a comfy daybed for napping! The kitchen and living room are linked but are set up as 2 rooms. All the appliances are new and the kitchen has everything you could need(except a dishwasher!) for cooking and dining. The bedrooms are peaceful and have a clean minimalistic calming vibe. The master has a sliding door onto a new small deck perfect for sipping your coffee or a cocktail! This bedroom has a wall of built in closets and shelves that should be ample space for any storage you may need as well as linens, extra towels, pillows ect for your stay. It is equipped with a relaxing reading spot and queen bed. The front bedroom has big picture window wonderful for birdwatching from the queen "daybed" or the provided workspace. Workspace is set up for working from home with a desk and all the odds and ends you need to get to work instantly. No need to lug your office staples, those are provided too. The almost 1 acre yard has natural screening from mature trees on all 4 sides. There are a blend of evergreens and deciduous trees that are tall and healthy. It is a bit more bare in winter of course, but you are still left feeling pretty secluded. The outlines of neighbors homes are more apparent, but it is still very private. The property has several out buildings, mostly being swallowed by nature that have a rustic charm and also add to the screening! We are slowly taking them down overtime, but are planting new screening first and allowing to mature before removing any added privacy from the funky buildings. The backyard(off the sunporch) has a wonderful brick chimney fireplace great for making smores and memories any time of year. There is also a picnic table for eating outdoors. There is an older summer addition that is attached to house, but not accessible by house. It is not part of rental and currently just used for storage. No access to this part. The front yard is a blend of plantings and lawn, abutting the driveway that can fit around 4 cars comfortably. No off street parking please! This space also feels very private! You catch a peak of your neighbors house across the way here through the narrow driveway entrance. There is 1 bathroom located in the center of the house. It is newly remodeled and has a spacy shower and shelving for your things and towels. It is simple but very clean, fresh and modern! The washer and dryer are located in the basement. The stairs are steep and the ceilings are low. It is not very pleasant or charming, but it beats no washer or dryer! Guest access You will have access to entire home. There is an old addition with a private entrance that is not included, and not in use(storage only). You have so much privacy here! Other things to note Please let us know who is traveling with you and if you have any pets you'd like to bring when you request to book. We welcome pets but they must first be approved by us and follow our pet rules!
