The Glass House at Meadow & Fern is a private echo-friendly mountaintop estate located in the Northern Berkshire village of Shelburne Falls, MA. Our electricity is powered by the sun with geothermal and passive solar heat & hot water. Completely private with panoramic views and rolling meadows of native fern, wildflowers and grasses. Contemporary comfortable accomodations includes 5 bedrooms (1 is a semi private sleeping alcove in the lower level) The Tree Top Suite with king bed,panoramic views, private ensuite bath with large corner jacuzzi bath and large steam room/shower. The Catamount View, Queen bed with large glass view wall. The Gigi Queen, one super comfy cozy queen bed and the Kiva Suite which occupies the entire lower level of the house, private bath, bedroom, sleeping alcove, and an open floor plan with expansive window wall. Private entrance with direct access to our north lawn. The main living area boasts an open floor plan with large Catamount Mt and meadow view window wall and access to expansive main floor deck. Granite fireplace, large dining area, media area with high definition TV, chef's kitchen with 2 ovens and direct access to our south lawn, stone patio, garden paths and outdoor cooking and dining space. Our grounds boarders 629 acres of Mass Audubon Society land preserve. Hiking trails, a babbling brook, groves of pine and the famous High Ledges Wildlife Sanctrary can be accessed directly from our site. Our vistas inclu Catamount Mt. State Forest and the Northern Berkshire mountains. The house is not "child proof" there are exposed outlets, stairs, glass tables etc. Please contact me if you are interested in bringing smaller children. Guests have complete access to the house and grounds of Meadow & Fern. I will be close by to assist as needed. Your privacy is my priority. I will happily help you plan your stay in advance and while you are here as needed as well. Just call or text. Although within a mile of the Village of Shelburne Falls, we are secluded and private. The access route is 1/4 mile, mostly uphill, so we will need to keep in touch if you plan a winter stay. No worries, you will be able to get here. Our neighbors are trees, birds, flora and fauna. Best to have a car. We are very close to town and walking distance to swimming and hiking. Bring your bike, walking shoes, swimming suits, skis, snowshoes, ice cleats and hiking shoes. Binoculars to view our birds (We have Eagles!) cameras to take pictures and a book to hang out with and relax. Winter stays are beautiful, summer rains create magic in the gardens and morning birds saranade. Get ready to be stunned by the beauty and serenity, the sunsets are spaticular, but don't forget to look up at our amazing nighttime sky.
