Description

The perfect Cape Cod location for a cozy getaway or a quiet retreat. Close to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, Harding Beach on Nantucket Sound or Lighthouse Beach on the Atlantic. Just 2.2 miles drive into Main street, Chatham for restaurants/shopping or enjoying the Friday night band concerts. Hike the Chatham Conservation trail that abuts the house or the 5 minute walk to Lovers Lake for swimming, and canoeing/kayaking. Centrally located for a quick drive to all of the Cape’s offerings. The space House is located in a central location to all of Cape Cod's attractions, beaches and restaurants. Nestled at the cul-de-sac of a private lane, the house provides a cozy and private retreat. There are 2 steps up the entryway onto the front porch where you will find the front door. Upon entry into the house, you will find the kitchen, living, dining/family, laundry rooms, the back porch, and the 1/2 bath. You can enjoy meals or relax in the screened in-porch which is furnished with porch furniture. You can also take an outside shower in nature in the fully equipped outside shower which is right next to the back porch. The 12 steps up to the 2nd floor will bring you to the full bath and the 3 bedrooms. Each of the rooms have a name. "Trollway" is the room with a twin bed.  “Stillwater” is the room with the double bed.  “Serenity is the room that has the queen bed. You have access to all areas of the house except the rooms that has the "private signs" on the door. They rooms are sealed off because for privacy and safety issues as they are store rooms. Activities you can do right next to the house: 1) Hiking Trails: The south and west side of the house is surrounded by Chatham's conservation land where there is a hiking trail. You can also walk across the street to the historic Marconi Maritime Museum Center to walk the trails there. 2) Lovers Lake: The house is only a 5 minute walk to Lovers Lake, a private lake for our community residents. The lake's 2 (two) resident swans beckon you to join them in swimming, canoeing/kayaking, picnicking or sunbathing at the lake. 3) Marconi Maritime Museum: Across the street from my house is Chatham Marconi Maritime Center, a historical museum. It is a 'must visit' for all history buffs. Both children and adults will enjoy the ‘ hands on’ experience as well as learning the history of the first wireless ship to shore radios using Morse Code and teletype, through to the two world wars, code breaking and maritime shipping. 4) Ryders’ Cove Boatyard: Walk across the street to Ryder’s Cove Boatyard. You can watch some seals swimming about the boatyard 's landing or make a reservation to go seal watching on one of the Beachcomber boats. 5) Main Street, Chatham: A 2.2 miles drive for a blast of shopping, restaurants, art galleries and more. Guest access The best way to get around Cape Cod is by car. There are town parking lots where you can park your car when you are visiting main street Chatham. The best way to explore all the venues of Main Street Chatham is to walk. You will have a blast explore all the shopping/jewelry stores, restaurants, art galleries, ice cream/candy/coffee shops and other one of a kind shops. There is a park, Kate Gould Park, right in the center of Main Street where you can relax and sit on one of the benches to have a take out lunch or a cup of coffee. Other options of getting around the Cape: 1)  Cape Cod car rental: There are car rentals in Hyannis & Orleans, MA 2) Public transport: There are seasonal buses that service the Cape more regularly in the summer. This includes the flex bus, which if you call ahead, can go slightly off route to get people without cars. I recommend that you check out the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) for more information. I cannot post the CCRTA website as Airbnb blocks all URLs.   3) Another option for short trips, such as to downtown Chatham, is the app Lyft. However you would need a smartphone in order to download the Lyft app. Lyft is like a taxi, but cheaper and services all of the Cape. They normally arrive within 5-10 minutes after you request them, and take you to various locations. Other things to note The home owner will stop in at the house to mow the lawn and empty garbage/ recyclables on a weekly basis. All guests will have complete privacy as the above tasks are completed only from the outside of the house. The owner WILL never enter the house without the guests’ permission.
