Quiet. Discounts available for longer stays. The Turning Mill neighborhood in Lexington is famous for its Mid Century homes designed by modernist architect Walter Pierce of MIT. Academics, musicians, engineers etc., make this neighborhood their home for its serenity and unique style. The space Minimalist architecture with an eclectic mix of mid century and colonial furniture and decor. Just 20 minutes from Cambridge and Boston, in the heart of the RTE 128 tech corridor, the house is surrounded by forest and hiking trails. Loft like open floor plan. Nature. Guest access There is a key safe by the front door. Access is for the whole house with the exception of the addition pictured to the left of the front door. Access includes: 6 bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, 2.5 baths, laundry room and screened porch. Other things to note The protected status of the mid century architecture in the Turning Mill Rd neighborhood offers an immersive mid century experience. The architecture can be traced back to the work of Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus movement. The conservation land around the house has numerous trails and carriage roads for walking and cycling. You may see deer, fox, owls, turkey and woodpeckers during your stay. A town bus goes by the house, offering transportation to downtown and Boston. In historic Lexington, birthplace of America. The yard is mostly wild. There is room for 4-6 cars in the driveway. Please do not park on the street. Please leave used towels and linens(with the exception of blankets and comforters) in the upstairs bathtub upon departure. Though the house sleeps up to 10 people, the dining room table usually seats 6. There are 6 more chairs and a picnic table on the back porch for another 6 people. If you are a large group, keep your showers short so that everyone has enough hot water. Guests are responsible for snow removal during their stay. Snow shovels and rock salt are provided. There is a large portable air conditioner in the living room. The bedrooms have fans for the windows. There is no central air conditioning. Because the house is in the shade of the trees, it stays comfortable during all but the hottest of days.
