Description

This studio, located smack dab in city center, has you living in Boston's history, with coffee/bakery shops, indie stores, restaurants, bike rental, groceries, hardware, pharmacy and other everyday necessities. The guest room, in my home, is completely private with separate entrance. Empty closet, desk and cooking equipment in kitchenette, linens for queen-sized bed. Private bath has shower. Surprisingly quiet city living. Be aware of two stair flights, on small size-check photos. One person. The space This fully furnished studio apartment is in a 1860s, owner occupied townhouse, located in the historic district of Beacon Hill.  It is smack dab in the center of Boston, just two blocks to the Boston Common and Public Garden, and equal distance to the Charles River Esplanade.  You will be steps away from the bustle and vibrancy of Charles St., Beacon Hill's main shopping street, on which there are excellent restaurants of various Zagat ratings (and costs), the Cheers bar, boutiques, art galleries, jewelry stores, gift stores, bakeries, cafes, small food stores, dry cleaners with laundry services, shoe repair, florists, chocolate/nut store, and the such.  There is a Whole Foods and Tradeer Joes, both within one-half mile, a small boutique food store on Charles Street, more coffee shops than one could possibly consume coffee (Starbucks, Blank St, Dunkin, and several excellent indies), a well-stocked drug store with friendly service, and a hardware store (honored with Best in the USA award) with equally cordial service and a multiplicity of supplies. The Back Bay is close by with more than enough places to spend lots of money.  In less than a ten-minute leisurely walk you are at the Red Line's MGH/Charles St T station, or through the Public Garden to the Green Line's Arlington St T station, and both the Orange and Blue lines are easily assessable by foot. In a word: location. The studio is small size, as are most Beacon Hill apartments, but has all the amenities that you need, including for staying in and cooking. The shower measures 30" X 30" and the room is 200 sq. ft. One guest, from South America, thought it very small, while the next guest, from NYC, thought it not. Hopefully for you it is 'just right.' Because this apartment is dedicated to my personal guests and short-term rentals you will find personal touches but no need to push over my personal belongings. The kitchenette and bathroom are fully supplied with everything you will need. There is: WiFi; TV/cable with many stations and some movies accessible; central air conditioning with your own control; free exchange library; hard wood floors with carpet; photographs and paintings along with other decorations to make you feel at home. The apartment is sometimes rated only four stars for value. I urge you to look carefully at the photos and in other ways scrutinize other listings of a similar price. Many are in basements, others are not in the best of buildings. Mine is as expensive as it is due to the location, the particularly secure building (but guests need to be urban smart) and being sunny and quiet. It is not more expensive because of its size and the bathroom and kitchen are not recently remodeled. Guest access The studio has its own locked entrance off of the public hallway. Guests have access to my part of the house with prior arrangements. Other things to note There are some unique things while you are here, such as: chocolate factory tours; beer tours; kayaking on the Charles River; the Duck boat tours that splash down in the Charles River; old graveyards with the graves of three signatories to the Constitution; the Boston Athenaeum, a most wonderful private library that will give you a glimpse into the Boston Brahman life style (tours are available for the public); film archive at Harvard; farmers markets; whale watches; and numerous museums and theaters. If any of the Boston sports teams are in a play-off you can bet that the duck statues and George Washington, both in the Public Garden, will be wearing the team's jerseys.
