Come, visit Lake Charles! A quick jump off the I10, seconds from the middle of downtown. Uniquely in transition, a 100 year old house into a Community Monastery for creative minds & spirits. 3 Bikes on property, 3 min ride to lake. Visit: Famous Stellar Beans for a lite breakfast, stretch&flow at the Yoga Ctr, Luna's bar & grill, dining. * Check out: ~ Guide book will give you plenty of things to do, see & taste ~ still designing your trip, plan to stick around a few days & Experience L.C.! Be aware, we do light incense and smug sticks periodically if you are sensitive to that. Bunk-beds are in! Front room can accommodate 4 guests, having more of a 'Back-packer' feel; if you & friends are traveling as a group, two can share the queen bed and two can fight over who gets the top bunk. If you are a couple traveling, 3 bikes are available in the shed for neighborhood and lakefront bike-rides. Sheets are clean, though playfully miss-matched, and sparsely flawed. We are on a usually quiet street, (there is a kind of rush-hour though) right downtown and just a short 3min bike ride or 10 minute walk to the lakefront and good food! Most of the house and back yard are yours to enjoy. My dad was the resident artist and enjoyed playing 'Basquiat' in the back rm. and shed so, they're a bit messier than shared spaces. There is picnic table and fire pit for evening gatherings. There may be things going on, but like we mentioned, the Common House concept is new. After my father's passing I travel sometimes and are at home sometimes. It's just luck-of-the-draw that I may/may not be able interact. Also, there is a CommonHouse Cat: 'Bodhi' is his name so, bring along your Benadryl if you have allergies. We are 3 blocks from downtown. 4 blocks from the lakefront. Take the bikes, ride around our charming Garden and Charpentier Historic District, (biking & walking boundary streets: north-Mill st./east-Enterprise/south-10th st. and west-lakefront.) Take in the sunrise/sunset on the lake, hunt for treasures at Cedar Chest Antiques, take a musing walk through 3 floors of the 1911 Historic City Hall & Cultural Center, or, enjoy the nightlife at Luna's or Crystal's or Stellar Beans, 'ono grinds' at Tia Juanita's Fish Camp, Blue Dog Cafe, Botsky"s gourmet dogs! ... I love living downtown! The bus stops 2 houses down. There are 2 bikes for you to use in the shed and Charley's art shop across from Luna's rents bikes by the hour, day or week. There is a cat on the premises, He can be brought home for a play-date if guests prefer not staying with him. If you are allergic to cats, you might want to bring some Benadryl to be safe.
