There is a keypad on the cabin for self check in. The cabin is in 7 acres of native woods between Knoxville and Pella. The cabin is well stocked to meet your basic needs. You must coordinate with the hosts if you have pets. Instant book is available for anyone without dogs/pets. We are owner operated. We don't charge additional cleaning fees. We are close to Lake Red Rock where there are lotsof hiking trails, birdwatching, the Cordova Observation Tower, fishing and boating available. Our getaway cabin is perfect for bird and wildlife watching. Deer roam by every evening to the north of the cabin. The chipmunks and squirrels are always entertaining. There are binoculars on the desk if you want to use them. A small stream runs through the property on the south. This is a natural setting and guests should be prepared to see bugs and/or mice etc. Even with a good pest control program and maintenance they sometimes get inside, but we try very hard to keep even the squeamish happy. Please keep the screen doors closed to keep mice and chipmunks out. The walk in tub is a standard size but we have had several comments about it being uncomfortably small for some quests. There is access to the creek trail from the mowed path going east off the gravel road as you go towards the stop sign at the blacktop. Well mannered controlled pets are welcome, but you must coordinate with Sue and Daryl. We have Noah a 15 lb mutt dog that is hard of hearing and seeing who is used to roaming freely. We keep him inside or in our fenced yard when guests with pets visit. As our quest you have access to mowed hiking trails and gardens on the seven acres. Enough off the road space to park 4 vehicles. Outdoor chairs around a fire pit area. A hammock is available - actually it's usually up in good weather. My husband Daryl and I love to talk to our guests, but if it is complete solitude that you want we completely respect that also. Just let us know, as our quests you definitely get to choose. The landline in the house is 641-828-7838. Sue's cell is 641-891-5484. Or just pop down to the house and knock. The dead end of 160th Avenue has a grass parking lot for access to thousands of acres of public ground on the south side of Lake Red Rock. The cabin is great for nature lovers and hunters looking for the lesser used paths in life. The Red Rock Dam and Army Corps if Engineers visitor center is 5 miles away. Knoxville Iowa is 2 miles west and Pella Iowa is only 12 miles to the east. There is not much for public transportation in the area, so you need to provide your own. Check out instructions - Please send us a text when you leave so we know we can start airing and cleaning. Thanks for you business. May your journey be safe!
