Escape to the peaceful banks of Bayou Barataria overlooking Lake Salvador and the Intracoastal Waterway. Children can play and run free under the 300+ yr old oaks that were once part of a plantation. Relax in our private sanctuary, enjoy a private 2 person outdoor shower, explore nature trails, fishing charters, swamp tours, seafood from local fishermen or caterers, or fine dining in New Orleans is 15 miles away. Return to cocktails on the porch to watch the sunset, bald eagles, and egrets. The space Enjoy this spacious 2600 ft home that tastefully incorporates many up-scale touches such as heirloom antiques, a steam shower for 2, a private outdoor shower for 2, and many kid friendly amenities. Our huge southern wrap around porch overlooks the 3+ acres we own of the greater 12+ acre original plantation grounds creating a private park-like setting. Our yard is actually the setting of the classic movie Hard Times with Charles Bronson! There is a front patio to enjoy the views and a back patio for grilling, frying fish etc. Tons of parking for your boat trailers etc. This house has been elevated to add an entertainment area under the house as well as a big wrap around back deck over the carport. Be prepared to climb approximately 15 steps to enter the home. Photography is forthcoming. Guest access Please note that the house has been recently elevated by 11 feet! Pictures are forthcoming but there is space for entertainment under the house and there are additional porches/decks that are not included in pictures. At this time this home is not handicapped accessible due to the amount of stairs required to climb 11ft! Guests have access to the entire house, yard, and dock. There is a second guesthouse “New Orleans Bayou Escape” that shares the 3 ac yard, dock and laundry room that has a separate entrance. Other things to note The main house was recently elevated 11ft. It is not handicapped accessible but there is now space for entertainment under the house as well as a back wrap around deck. Photography is forthcoming. A 30x50 ft entertainment area/dock over the water was previously constructed. Water levels vary depending on the tides and winds. We cannot guarantee boat access. Occasionally the bayou has a lot water hyacinths and floating vegetation. However, the town does pay to have the floating vegetation managed.
