This 3-bedroom, 5-bed house sleeps up to 10 -- ideal for groups that wish to rent both of the apartments in an historic 2-family home in downtown Amherst, steps away from everything this vibrant downtown has to offer. 3 bedrooms, 5 beds. 5-min walk to Amherst College, 15-minute walk to UMass. New comfy mattresses with all-cotton linens, eclectic decor. Two kitchens. Washer/dryer. Large-screen TVs in both apts. Front porch with rocking chairs, balcony, and backyard. First Floor: This unique apartment retains the character of olden times, yet sparkles with newly finished wood floors, porcelain tiled kitchen, and freshly painted walls. You will appreciate the kitschy touches: the 50s coffee table with blue glass top, the antique bent wood rocking chair, the hand sewn Indian tapestries adorning the walls, the small table crafted from an old butter churn, and the hand woven South American hanging in the master bedroom. The well-equipped kitchen provides the convenience of home, with attractive touches like the red-themed small appliances and accessories. The master bedroom has a queen bed, quiet sitting area, over-sized dresser, and night tables with built-in outlets and USB ports. The second bedroom is a cozy space with a full-sized bed. The living room features a sofa that converts to a queen-sized bed. It's not the pull-out kind, but it folds down and is unusually comfortable for a sofa-bed. Second Floor: The sun-drenched bedroom has a sitting area with two chairs, a reading corner with an antique rocking chair, and a double bed with a high quality mattress and fine all-cotton bedding. The combination living/dining room has a 43" TV, an antique dining table that opens to seat four, and a pull-out queen sleeper sofa. While extremely comfy as a sofa for sitting, or for one person to sleep on unopened, the sofa as a pull-out bed is not as comfortable as a real bed; therefore this apartment is best suited for a couple, or a couple plus a single person or child. The recently-renovated compact bathroom boasts a sparkling new shower, coral colored walls, wood ceiling and cabinetry, and hand-crafted mirror. The newly updated galley kitchen has a built-in bar crafted with reclaimed wood, and is elegantly equipped with hand made pottery plates, a new set of flatware, and every utensil you might need. On the ground floor, you can sit out on your cute, old-timey front porch and watch the world go by on your quaint downtown Amherst street. There's also a little balcony on the second floor with a bistro table and seating for two. Guests also have access to the back yard. Please note that although the neighborhood is completely safe, your house is right downtown amidst the hustle and bustle of a college town. Street noise and college kids' parties in the neighborhood are not uncommon. I live about seven miles away, so generally don't meet guests. However, I am available 24/7 by cell phone; and can usually be there in person in case of any emergency. Step out the door of your apartment, and you will be in the heart of downtown Amherst, with its numerous shops and restaurants, and its vibrant nightlife. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Amherst is the quintessential New England town, with its expansive town green and stunning architecture. Both Amherst College and UMass offer music, theatre, and other cultural events throughout the year, as well as attractive campuses worthy of hours of happy exploration. The Amherst Cinema, two blocks from the apartment, is a unique non-profit establishment with five theaters that run films ranging from art house to Hollywood features. Everything in downtown Amherst is steps away. About three blocks away is the Peter Pan bus station, offering service to Springfield, Boston, New York--and connecting to just about anywhere. Also within a few blocks is the five-college bus, which makes the rounds between UMass, Amherst College, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke, and Smith, with frequent service daily. The Amtrak station in Northampton is seven miles away, easily accessible by Uber; Bradley International Airport (Hartford/Springfield) is about a 45-minute drive; and Boston's Logan International Airport is about a 2-hour drive.
