Baker's Corner is a historic farm 2 miles from downtown Clear Lake and the beach. The acreage sits amidst Iowa farmland but is only minutes from the tourist attractions of Clear Lake and the amenities of Mason City. This quiet, cozy, country home is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. We'll welcome you with a loaf of homemade bread and seasonal jam. The apartment is above our detached garage, accessed by a single flight of stairs. At the top of the stairs, you'll find the living, dining, kitchen space. The bedroom, bathroom with washer and dryer are separate rooms. The apartment overlooks our family farm and gardens. There is a small patio with a charcoal grill, table and chairs. A fire pit located not far from the apartment is available for S'mores and star gazing. Guests are welcome to stroll the gardens and acreage. We are available onsite or by AirBnB messaging if you should need assistance throughout you stay. Clear Lake is one of Iowa's best tourist towns. There is something to see and do almost every weekend of the year. From Buddy Holly weekend at the Historic Surf Ballroom, two State Parks, Christmas by the Lake, Wooden Boat Show, Annual Art Sail, Thursdays on Main, Classic Car Show, the 4th of July Celebration, fishing tournaments, sailing Regattas and much more. It's often a favorite (northern route) overnight stay for RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa)! You'll find a complete listing of fun opportunities at the city's website. Attention bikers: Baker's Corner is situated along the paved Trolley Trail that runs between Clear Lake and Mason City. Heading east from the corner you can ride along the old highway and electric train track all the way to Mason City, through town on marked trails and turn around at Lime Creek Nature Center on the northeast side of town. Heading west on the Trolley Trail takes you into downtown Clear Lake and continues in a 14 mile loop around the lake through residential areas and the Sister's Prairie paved trail on the southwest edge of Ventura - a beautiful ride. Clear Lake is a small town. We are just 2 miles from downtown and the Lake but there is no public transportation. The only taxi available is from Mason City, 7 miles to the east. The Trolley Trail Bike Trail runs right along our property and continues west to town and continues around Clear Lake. It also takes you 7 miles east to Mason City, through town and continues all the way to Lime Creek Nature center, northeast of Mason City. The maximum stay allowed at Baker’s Corner is 6 nights.
