The Rocklyn Apartment Building was built in 1872 before the turn of the century and was almost devastated in the 2006 tornados that tore through downtown Iowa City. It was salvaged and fully restored by Gloria and Ron Walsh, your hosts, that live on the property. They continue to enjoy and take pride in it's history and welcome you. Great care has been given to this building and it has been a labor of LOVE for Ron and Gloria. Included in this private apartment is a completely stocked kitchen, including coffee, teas, hot chocolate, and water. The newly renovated bathroom has towels, blow dryer, shampoos, makeup pads, towels, and body washes. This is a prime location close to downtown, College Hill Park, the Iowa City Ped Mall with many restaurants and activities to make your stay more enjoyable. The listing is discounted for those that need only the main bedroom for a 2 person stay. The second bedroom is easily available upon request with prior arrangement. Please reach out for details. Being a college town there are also several rental properties in the area. We are within few blocks of downtown. Our street, which has a median on the street ends at the location of the Old Capital building. The other end of the street - a block down - ends in what was the old governor's corner/circle with the old historic homes. There is ONE designated off street parking space. Free street parking is also available. Please know that extra precautions are taken to insure a safe environment for your stay. All surfaces are wiped and disinfected after each guest stay.
