Renovated Midcentury Modern Chilmark Guesthouse

Completely renovated midcentury modern guesthouse designed by renowned architect Paul Rudolph. Private 4.5 acre landscaped and wooded property with distant water view, wood deck, limestone patio and covered parking. Meticulously maintained with hardwood floors, new modern kitchen, central AC, modern bathroom, large smart TV and high-speed cable internet. Centrally located 5 minutes from Chilmark town center, under 10 minutes to Vincent and Squibnocket beaches and Menemsha. Minimum stay 7 nights. The space 365 square foot guest cottage with 100 square foot covered deck and 400 square foot limestone and grass terrace. Property also includes large private lawns and wooded areas. As is common on the Vineyard, the property is accessed from a private dirt road. We recommend that all guests have a car, which can be rented on-island or brought over on the Steamship Authority ferry. Guest cottage includes a bedroom/living space with a built-in desk, a small dining table, and a large smart TV mounted on the wall with streaming services (require guest logins), plus hundreds of free channels through Samsung Fast TV. There is also a large closet with hanging space and shelving, a full bathroom with bathtub/shower, and a separate kitchen. There is no room for a couch. The water view in the distance can be seen in the spring and fall, but can be difficult to see in the middle of summer when the trees are thick, and on foggy days. The water view is much more visible from the upstairs deck of the adjacent main house, which can be accessed by stairs from the limestone terrace. The property is very private and secluded, with no visibility of neighbors. Renters of the guest house are eligible to purchase beach stickers at their own expense for Lucy Vincent Beach and/or Squibnocket Beach in Chilmark. This is what is meant by AirBnB's terminology of "shared beach access." Both beaches are about a 5 minute drive from the house. Beach stickers can be purchased from the Chilmark Town Hall. Menemsha Beach is also very close and is a free public beach. Clarifications to AirBnB listed amenities: "cooking basics" excludes oil; the barbecue grill uses gas (not charcoal) and some barbecue tools can be found in the kitchen; "beach essentials" include 2 beach chairs, beach towels and a beach umbrella (no snorkel gear or beach blanket); the toaster is a large toaster oven (Breville); the induction stove has 2 burners. Guest access Guests will have full access to the guesthouse, patio, and 4.5 acre property. Adjacent main house is not included in the rental.
