Entire Hilltop House in Gill with Panoramic Views
This charmingly rustic two-story, fully-furnished farmhouse sits on a stunning and unique hilltop oasis of panoramic views, birds galore, and endless fields. Enjoy your peaceful country getaway (with strong WiFi) while living just minutes from great restaurants, bakeries, shops, music venues, and galleries. A 10-minute drive to Greenfield, NMH, Turners Falls, and more, the house is spacious but cozy — perfect for a solo guest, couple, or a family of 4-5 (contact us for slightly larger groups). The space This home is an older farmhouse, not a newly-built condo, which will be perfect for guests who are seeking that kind of eclectic, homey comfort. It has excellent cell service, and now features strong Wifi! For return guests who previously enjoyed the fact that we didn't, we will happily unplug it before your arrival :) The layout includes two bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed and the other with two beds in it (a full and a twin), and a bathroom off the hallway in between. Downstairs, there’s a full kitchen, living room, dining room, and a small covered porch that looks out over the southwest fields. Your house is located across the road from our own family house, and has open access to 100 acres of hills, meadows, forests, and a pond (better for frog and heron-watching than for swimming). It's a leaf-peeper's dream come true, has a vast array of wintertime sledding options for the whole family, has a small private outdoor porch, and access to its own private yard area. Sheep will often be found grazing the fields around your house — our “lawnmower service” for the 50 open acres. We take pride in our homes being an integrated part of a thriving natural ecosystem as well as actively used farmland, which means the fields may seem “overgrown” in our efforts to promote healthy insect populations and eventually, food for the sheep. As a result, our hill is home to a huge variety of grasses, shrubs, trees, and flowers, as well as the insects and other animals that depend on them. We love the story that’s told each year by the changing flora and fauna, and if you enjoy that as well, you’ll find our home an inviting place to spend any season. Do check for ticks and expect mosquitos in the usual times of year (though the bats and dragonflies, plus the strong breezes up on the hill, help keep them in check). Guest access Guests have access to the entire house and surrounding property. Other things to note Driveway parking, laundry facilities in the basement, spacious mudroom. We ask all guests to leave the house broom-clean.. Pet-owners: though we love dogs, please note that there is a one-time $50 pet fee, applicable to any reservation with a dog. Unfortunately, we do not allow cats in the house. Once your reservation is confirmed, we will send a request for the fee through AirBnb. We also require you to clean up 100% after your pet, to vacuum the house before you go, and we don't allow any long-haired animals that shed. For more than 4 guests, there is an additional $25 fee per guest over the age of 5. The house is well-stocked with kitchen basics, spices, condiments, some pantry items and staples (we have a coffee maker and grinder, but BYOB - bring your own beans).
