Traditional Log House Near Cape Cod/Boston
PLEASE READ THE LISTING DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE RESERVING!! Only minutes from historic Plymouth, beaches and the Cape. On an acre of private, wooded property. Located across the street from lovely cranberry bogs and walking trails. Close to Boston and Providence. A must see! Seasonal rates apply. Please be sure to read the entire listing description before booking. The space This listing is for a Traditional Log House. Amazing for Autumn foliage and especially the cranberry harvest!! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING!!! This listing has been, BY FAR, the single most popular listing on Airbnb in our area for over 8 years. Not exaggerating or trying to boast. I have hosted over 10,000 guests and, of the almost 1000 reviews for my log house, only about 40 are negative and most of those are from the same guests who inflicted so much damage on the house and property over the years. The rest are perfect 5-star reviews, as you can easily see, and are absolutely glowing! The cabin/house has been booked every single day for over 8 years and, as mentioned, has taken a lot of damage, albeit from only a very, very few unbelievably horrific ''guests''. Invariably, these are always first-time Airbnb guests. Almost everything has been repaired and restored without any support whatsoever from Airbnb...I have paid for all repairs, despite Airbnb's ''guarantee''. 92.3% of the reviews for the log house are 5-stars and from some of the loveliest people I have ever had the pleasure of hosting. This listing description is for the remaining 7.7% of guests I host each year who are so incredibly rude, inconsiderate and destructive that it is truly stunning. I literally BEG this type of guest NOT to reserve the log house or any of my 3 boat listings! I am not entirely sure how much more transparent I can be :) The house may not be appropriate for long-term stays and those guests reserving the house for more than 7 days need to allow me access to clean the house at least once a week to ensure not only their comfort but to keep the house well-maintained. Again, the house is absolutely perfect for short-term stays but IS NOT for long-term stays unless guests agree to weekly cleaning :) My house is absolutely not perfect, yet it remains the most popular listing in what is arguably one of the most famous towns in the U.S. :) I have almost finished getting the house back to its former glory but there are still a few things left to fix/repair. I have listed these issues below. As a result of the damage, several stunningly rude guest experiences so far this year (thankfully still very rare) and Airbnb's total lack of host support, I am, unfortunately, no longer able to accept reservation requests from first time Airbnb guests! If you are truly nice, polite and considerate, please let me know in your inquiry email and I am always very happy to make exceptions for this kind of first-time Airbnb guest! At the risk of repeating myself, THE HOUSE IS NOT PERFECT!! Please note, the handles on both the stove and fridge have been broken-off and have been temporarily affixed by duct tape. A guest managed to literally rip all 3 medicine cabinets off the bathroom wall and although they have been replaced, I am still waiting to have the last one installed. Another guest pushed the pool table into (through) a basement wall...twice...this has been repaired and looks absolutely fine but is not ''perfect" for those very rare guests who may have an issue with that. A guest damaged both deck doors...they are repairable and do not look too bad, but they have yet to be fixed. Additionally, the house is dimly lit! It is very, very nice for ambience and guests mention how lovely and relaxing it is in tons of reviews, but for those few guests who require very bright lights, this is not the listing for you! There is a small amount of water damage in the basement area...two small spots of dry wall along the ceiling. It isn't glaring and I don't think a single review even mentions it. The ceiling on the main floor is over 17ft high and it is possible that I may miss a spider web or two when I rush to clean in the four hours between guest check-ins and outs. 17ft doesn't sound too high-up until your up there on a ladder :) Ummm...what else....a squirrel named Charlie likes to run up and down the roof from time to time (he will eat out of your hand if you see him on the deck) but if a squirrel using the log house roof as a slide for a few minutes might bother you, then this is not the listing for you. Again, this listing description is not meant for the almost 10,000 other guests who thought this listing was truly awesome :) What else...the overhead light in the living room area requires specific lights and requires my contractor to install them with a 20ft ladder. It can sometimes take weeks to get both the lights and my contractor so, for all intents and purposes, this lighting is not, and never has been, a primary lighting source. It is primarily used only as a ceiling fan, although the cabin has central AC/heat. Please note, as well, that I am usually at the house working on the lawn or the house until guests arrive. I have 4 hours in-between check-outs and ins to get the house ready and, contrary to some notions of log cabins, this is not a small house and four hours is sometimes not long enough to repair damage or clean if guests leave it in a less-than-tidy state at check-out! Once in a blue moon, a guest will arrive as I am finishing-up a project or doing some additional cleaning and will literally treat me like a trespasser, despite stating over and over again in every email that I may be at the house when guests arrive. If guests simply give me a few minutes notice with an arrival time, I always, always finish (mowing the lawn for example) and depart before guests arrive :) I am not simply waiting at the door for guests to check-in, only to prepare the house and property for the best guest stay possible :) If this is an issue, please do not reserve this listing! I also have an incredibly cute Bichon Frise/Shi Tzu (they look like little Ewoks from Star wars) who is always with me....Baxter doesn't shed and is always super happy to say a quick hello if I do happen to be at the house when a guest arrives...if a super cute, completely happy small dog might be an issue for you, please do not reserve this listing :) I only have a few house rules: 1) Guests may not under any circumstances move furniture or lights! The house is set-up in a certain way and, from the hundreds and hundreds of 5-star reviews, guests like the feel and ''vibe''...It is not to be re-arranged for any reason whatsoever. 2) Guests may NOT leave food on the countertops or on the deck. This will inevitably invite the small country mice which are cute and harmless but are still annoying! Of the 1000 reviews only around 4 mention a mouse in the house and these guests invariably left food out in the open or around the back deck! 3)Guests must put any garbage in the green bin under the back deck when the interior garbage is full and may not leave additional garbage lying around! This is a log house, not a condo, apartment or normal house and this is an important rule! 4)Guests are not welcome to lecture me on anything! Unless you own a log house, I am not interested in hearing about what a guest thinks would be best for my listing! It happens very rarely but it is so beyond rude that I felt compelled to list it as one of my few rules! As the top listing in Plymouth, I think I know what I am doing and have been doing it for a decade! I do not welcome guests' opinions about the house or what they think the house should have or not have! It has literally been the #1 listing for 10 years and I am not qualified to handle this particular type of guest! That's it for rules :) Please note, this is a double lot property. The majority of the wooded property is along Carver Rd. and the very back lot is along Plymouth St. I have lived on my sailboat about 20 minutes away from the log house for many years but with the pandemic and the increasing number of major storms, I have been using my little studio/workshop/office at the very edge of the property along Plymouth St. much more often. My 3 neighbors are all between 50ft - 100ft away from the main property. My little studio/office/workshop is over 200 feet away and cannot be seen from the house or main property. However, guests may see my car parked next to it when I am either working or when I park it there during longer sailing trips. I am never ever on the main property and guests have 100% complete privacy but I do kindly ask that guests respect the two separate properties and not go beyond the main property except to go directly to the cranberry bogs. The very back of the property is not part of the main property and is, again, on a different street. Guests will clearly see where the main property ends by the large logs separating the two properties. Lastly, to make things as simple as humanly possible for guests and for myself, if you arrive and the house disappoints you IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER, please let me know right away and I will immediately REFUND YOU IN FULL and help to find a more suitable listing! There is usually a waiting list all year long and I absolutely do not want guests in the house who are not completely happy to be there! It is the only listing of its kind in our area and my only goal has always been to provide a truly lovely and unique alternative to a hotel room for less money...oh...and I have never charged any other obnoxious ''hidden'' fees and usually refund the nominal $10 cleaning fee to guests who leave the house as they found it :). As you can see in almost a thousand reviews, I sincerely care about my guests and do my absolute best to guarantee a superlative guest experience :) As this is the top Airbnb listing in Plymouth, and has been for almost a decade, I think I'm doing a pretty good job and remain extremely grateful that the vast majority of my guests think so, as well :) :) Thank you, again, for your interest in this listing and I will sincerely look forward to welcoming you should you decide to reserve your stay :) Guest access You will have the house to yourself: 2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, kitchen, living/dining room. There is a loft area overlooking the ''Open Concept'' living/dining/kitchen area with 2 queen size futon sofa/sofa beds. Free Wi-Fi, of course. Check-in: 3:00pm Check-out: 11:00am A large, raised outdoor deck overlooks the back yard and cranberry bogs. The large flat screen TV and free streaming internet services make for a modern respite on rainy days. A Keurig Instant Coffee machine is always on with complimentary K-Cups, hot chocolate and tea. There is a pool table and PS3 in the basement area. Two comfortable and clean bedrooms with a California king size, cherry wood bed and queen-sized bed, respectively. The loft area has two futon sofa/sofa beds that can accommodate additional guests comfortably. The living room offers an Ikea futon sofa/double sofa bed, if needed. Other things to note The house is perfect for visiting historic Plymouth, beautiful bay-side Plymouth, Cape Cod and the islands. Close to Boston and within a few minutes of the beaches. It is a great location. Park & Ride train service (Kingston Train Stop) directly to Boston's South Station is fewer than 3 miles away. About 15 minutes (give or take) to the Cape, sans the traffic!
