This historic home has strict rules in order to preserve it and maintain a quiet neighborhood. No children and only 5 star guests may book. Streetcar is 2 blocks away The space This is an old authentic Shotgun house with old house quirks. Noise can travel from one side to the other easily through the cypress walls. Please keep this in mind if you decide to book or if you find the house rules may be to restrictive for you. You are welcome to enjoy all the amazing charm this old house has to offer. This Shotgun is different than most. The coal burning fireplace is set caddy corner in the front room and bedroom. One room goes into the next so it’s important that you understand what a Shotgun house is. It has 12ft ceilings and ceiling fan to help beat the humidity and central air conditioning set at 72 degrees. It sits across from the historic Masonic Cemetery where many movies and TV shows have been filmed. New Orleans Shotgun houses are built from the barges that came down the Mississippi River. They used the barge board to build the shotgun houses mostly from cypress wood. This home is currently being restored to its formal glory keeping with it’s original charm. Katrina spared this beauty as it did not flood due to it being raised and sits on the Metairie ridge, which is one of the highest areas in New Orleans. The space is 600sq feet inside and has only the front porch to sit outside. It’s perfect for two that know the quirks of an antique shotgun home and want to enjoy its charm. The loveseat sofa bed in the living room is a double bed size for one person only. It’s comfortable for smaller people unfortunately. Guest access You will have the full and private half of the double. I live next door and happy to have you as my neighbors. You will have your own key code to come and go. Other things to note *No parties *No unregistered guests on the property. *No children *Laundry mat is just a few blocks down the street within walking distance. You can drop off laundry for a fee. You will find the map in my Guide Book. *This is a non smoking property inside and outside including vapor devices. *Street parking only. *Temperature set at 72 degrees to avoid freezing the central air conditioner. *The WiFi is listed as an amenity but if it goes down for any reasons you will not be compensated for the interruption in service. This is a residential service and not for business. This also includes things that are out of my control such as power outages, boil water order, hail, wind and rain.
