Source: VRBO This condo really is as nice as advertised. if you're looking for a beautiful place to stay, inside and out, you've found the right listing. The location cannot be beat. The condo is literally right on the coast, and you'll go to sleep each night to the sound of surf meeting the rocks below. It's an easy walk (1/2 mile) to the Poipu beach, and there is great hiking along the shore to the east, past Shipwreck Beach and around to Gillan's beach. The location is Poipu is a great place to be, as you can go west to Waimea and boating out of Port Allen, or east to Lihue and then on to the north shore. There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Poipu to keep you busy for several weeks... Unless you choose to use the incredibly well-equipped kitchen to cook dinner at the condo (which you might want to do if you have one too many libations while watching the beautiful sunsets from the condo's balcony). The kitchen has everything you'll need during your stay (except the food itself); from plastic ziplock bags to spices to coffee pots and blenders, it's there. The rest of the condo is equally well-equipped; the furniture is well maintained, the beds and linens are very comfortable, and the bathrooms stocked with towels, shampoos, soaps, etc. Outside the condo is a small but convenient plunge pool and deck area, and owners Doug and Candy also make the ocean-side pool at their neighboring property available for use as well. We had six adults and were completely comfortable for our week-long stay. We literally have nothing but good things to say about this property and its owners. Doug and Candy were incredibly proactive, providing information to us before we had even thought to ask for it. Our security deposit was refunded within a couple of hours of our departure. As good as VRBO is, there's always a little apprehension when you arrive at the property, hoping that it measures up to what you are expecting, but there's no need to worry about that here. Need I say more? The money you save not having to buy all that for your stay is incredible. The owners are wonderful, responsive and right there if you need them! Even though it did not have air conditioning there are ceiling fans in all the rooms plus stand up fans. You would be making a mistake not to book this condo. No property can beat this view. The condo is right on the ocean and the views are really special, especially looking west toward Poipu beach and beyond. This time we were joined by my brother and his wife, and there was more than enough room for the six of us. We loved going out on the patio for breakfast each morning, watching the waves crash over the volcanic rock shore and the turtles ride the swells. And the patio was also a great spot to watch the sunset in the evenings, too. The upstairs entertainment area, with the very big screen TV was a great place to relax after sunset and a full day of activities. I cannot say enough good things about this place. A well-supplied kitchen and great view made it a perfect place to eat in some nights and dine out others. Several good restaurants within 5-10 minute drive. Our favorite was Red Salt. I have to come back to the condo unit itself. Once you are there you won't want to leave. The view, the crashing surf and the warm wind never get old and you just have to decide which room or lanai to stock with your favorite island food and drink and take it all in... In fact, we did a snorkel cruise up the NaPali Coast (highly recommend) but saw more whales and turtles from the condo! The condo was exceptionally well stocked with everything from beach toys, towels, mats, coolers, and boogie boards, to shampoo, saran wrap, and spices. It was recently remodeled which shows, and is well loved and cared for. The owners communicate well and were very responsive. When we summed up what we liked best about our Kauai vacation everyone in our group agreed that it was the porch/patio of our own condo. We ended up eating in most nights and dined on the covered porch. Six of us fit comfortably as we enjoyed a glass of wine while watching the magnificent sunsets. Sea turtles dined on algae around the rocks and were visible all day long. We hunted for whale blows and breaches and always had some success. Spinner dolphin surprised us a few times as well. At night the sound of the waves put us to sleep and the birds woke us in the morning. From our patio we saw a dark blob on Poipu Beach to our right. Binoculars confirmed that it was a resting monk seal. A couple who lived on Kauai for five years accompanied us and agreed that our location was one of the best on the island for the view. Don't hesitate to book this unit. It is comfortable and its sights and sounds are romantic and nourishing. We hated to leave. I hope that we are lucky enough to stay here again someday.
