In the heart of the Crow Indian reservation, right on the great open plains, facing the magical Pryor mountains proudly stands our Double Spear Ranch. We are a hard-working cattle ranch farming this land in third generation and we feel privileged to be able to share this beautiful lifestyle with people from all around the world. So if you wanna live your very own cowboy dream, learn more about the past and present days of the Wild West and let your soul run free we are happy to have you here!:) The space We are not your ordinary hotel or usual bed and breakfast. This ranch, this land is our home, our livelihood and we are delighted to have the opportunity to share the beauty and vastness of the surrounding nature, the diversity of our local flora and fauna, the joys and laughs of the simple cowboy life with guests, friends and travelers from all around the world:) Unlike other big Dude- and Guestranches we do not put up any shows and take people out on head to tail pony-rides but we like to involve our guests on demand in whatever work needs to be done around the place. Tasks and activities vary with the seasons and the weather. In spring we are busy calving, taking night shifts in looking after the cows, in summer after the brandings we usually bring the cows up to the big pastures, we check on them from time to time, fix fences, try to get hay in, do lots of maintenance work around the house, in autumn we need to bring the cows back down to the ranch and get ready for winter, winter is a good time for a good book in front of the fire after coming in from the cold out feeding the cows. Good hard work and Wild West Authenticity are reflected in the setting and composition of our facilities, the only thing fancy around here is the silver hair on Tony's back:) If you wanna join us on our horsetrecks, cattledrives or wagontrains please get in touch with us about conditions and availability! Your room is part of a two bedroom cabin with an ensuite bathroom and a living area. Good hearty cowboy breakfast is included, you can join us for the other meals in exchange for a small fee... The ranch is located about 45min from Billings which would also be the nearest airport and the best spot for some good shopping. During the summer time there is loads of cowboy rodeos, native American pow-wows, historical reenactments or local fairs and auctions going on. On a hot summer day there is no better thing to do than to rent a boat at big horn lake and enjoy nature's magnificent creations from the water or you could go explore the Wild Horse Range famous for its wild mountain stallion "Cloud". Or you fancy an up-close encounter with the big "tatanka" in Yellowstone National Park four hours down the road. Other things to note Please make sure you bring adequate clothing. During times with lots of rain the yard sometimes turns into a big mud puddle, which can either mean you need a good pair of boots or your spa essentials:) weatherproof jackets, warm sweater (even in the summer time evenings can get cold) can be life savers, sunscreen and bug spray will come in handy as well:)
