This is a very cute, cozy & clean 1 BR cottage overlooking the Pacific Ocean - the view is stunning. Close but safe proximity to lava hiking areas of Kalapana and you can now drive to the new Pohoiki black sand beaches and thermal ponds! FREE: Parking next to cottage. This cute and cozy ocean front cottage is located in Kehena Beach, ( bathing suit optional) a remote but gorgeous coastal community in the Puna District on The Big Island of Hawaii. It is also a nice spot to visit Volcanoes National Park, which is a 50-60 minutes drive. There are also periodic lava flows just a short distance away both in Leilani and Kalapana. We have Hawaiian jungles, tropical rain forests, beautiful coastal views, snorkeling , whale watching w/ dolphins that migrate to the warm Hawaiian waters from Alaska. During the winter months, you can often see whales out in the water from our lanai just several yards off beautiful coast - in the Kehena Beach area. Many of my tenants tell me that they were able to swim w/ the dolphins as well - and you can too at the world famous 'Kehena Black Sand Beach' (bathing suit optional)! You can easily navigate coastal Tide Pools down the road from our cottage @ Kehena Beach. This comfortable, spacious, high ceiling cottage has 1 bedroom, full bath, living/dining area w/ a 'food prep area' but NO KITCHEN, full sized fridge/blender/coffee w/ coffee maker and a stocked pantry w/ goodies are included. MW and toaster oven located in utility room 15 ft. from cottage. Gas and charcoal BBQ ‘s w/ utensils outside etc...), If a full kitchen is needed, please look at The Whale House. Cottage now has 1 G Fioptic high speed Wi-FI internet ( perfect for work) , Netflix, landline w/ free long distance to mainland. It has a queen bed, but can sleep 3 possibly 4 w/ Futon (double bed size) or/and couch. For those of you who are seeking night time entertainment, check out 'Uncles Outdoor Hawaii Bar' if you want to sip a beer, listen to live Hawaiian music, eat great food and enjoy a farmers market at the same time when available. The Oceanfront Cottage is just 8 miles from Pohoiki Point ( no access) and the devastated Kapoho lava flow ocean entry. Compare our rates to hotels that are farther away in HILO. Kilauea Volcano is about 55 minutes away. If you are interested in Yoga, our cottages are located between the two yoga centers in this area at a great rate. Other things to note CAR RENTALS… if you are having trouble getting a car rental at a reasonable price- we have contacts that rent used cars for a better price so just ask. LAVA NEWS****** VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK is open! You can now drive to the Isaac Hale Park and Pohoiki black sand beach/thermal ponds, Mackenzie Park, just 8 miles away down our road.
