BigSkyHilltop is located in a picturesque area 10 minutes from Amherst Center and close to 5 colleges; views for 50 miles; There are lots of hiking and cross country trails close by. If you'd prefer a little more privacy and a private bathroom, check our other Airbnb listing titled 'Private Suite and bathroom/full breakfast.' Joan and Josette have been fully vaccinated against Covid 19 to protect our guests -- we require that our guests have also been fully vaccinated before their arrival. The space Fabulous breakfast, view for 60 mile, and 10 min. from downtown Amherst. If you're coming to the Amherst area to visit the colleges or for business, come stay with us in our sunny home on the hill—and just minutes away from Hampshire College, University of Massachusetts, and Amherst College. Your bedroom has lots of windows, shades, both a queen-size bed and a single, each with an excellent mattress. The full bath is adjacent to the bedroom. (If you need an additional room for other family members, we can open up the Gathering Space for another 4- 7 people.) Check our alternative listing: Private suite and bathroom/full breakfast) Wake up and take a quiet country walk before breakfast. A typical gourmet breakfast buffet might include homemade baked good, fresh bread, homemade jams & jellies, fresh-ground coffee/tea, smoked fish, local pasture-raised eggs, homemade granola, yogurts & fresh fruits. We can accommodate vegetarians, vegans, omnivores, flexitarians, and octogenarians. We're located almost 1000 feet above the Connecticut Valley with views for 60 miles (we can see Hartford, Ct. on the horizon). In the adjoining pastures alpacas & donkeys are grazing: wild turkeys roam in the fields and forest. If you have the time, enjoy hiking trails, cross country skiing (Cadwell Forest is a walk or short drive away), country walks, biking and jogging, right outside the door. Down the hill in Amherst and Northampton, there are lots of restaurants, boutiques, and the 5 colleges. The 4 seasons are all beautiful up here and we can see both the sunrise and the sunset. Guest access The living room, deck and yard are common areas. We light up the fireplace in the winter. Have your morning breakfast/coffee/tea on the deck, around the dining table, or under the crab-apple tree. If you want more privacy, check out our other Airbnb listing 'Private suite with bathroom/full breakfast. During your stay Having lived in the area since 1980, we can give you suggestions of where to eat, museums to visit, and special places in the area. If you just need a morning or evening walk, you can take the 3. 4 mile loop on country roads just out our driveway; you'll pass a waterfall, a conservation area, a 1/2 mile hill under a forest canopy, protected land, a beaver pond, a horse farm, and lots of bird sounds. Other things to note Although we don't provide cooking facilities, you are welcome to use the fridge as well as the electric kettle; we have a variety of teas from which to choose. Our delicious water comes from our own well, so there's no need to buy bottled water while you're here. During Covid, please use recommended precautions.
